I'm not super good about it. I try if I see it, but most of the time I'm in my own head about something. Driving time is good thinking time! Also, it's Colorado. There are only two types of cars here: Subarus and Jeeps.

My understanding is that the Jeep wave is between... "Jeeps" lacking a better word. Like CJ, Wrangler, the traditional Jeep that a 3 year old would identify as a Jeep. This apparently includes FJ40s, as it turns out from past experience daily driving one (I didn't realize what was going on for a while and just thought people were being friendly). I forget what the rebadged Fiat is called (that's not badge chauvinism, I genuinely can't recall), but a 3 year old doesn't look at that and say "Jeep!". At least that's my assumption... I'll find out in a year and a half when my daughter gets there.

If I waved at every jeep here my arm would have fallen off by now.
This! My area is Wrangler/ Gladiator central. I now only wave to modified Wranglers, Gladiators, and XJs.

The dealer that I bought my Gladiator from sells a ton of Wranglers and during delivery, my salesman made sure to instruct me about the Jeep Wave. I thought it was pretty funny. He was a Wrangler fanatic. This is my 5th Jeep.

Lots of waves to be had up here around Lake Norman, North Carolina!!!!
It's become second instinct to me now......and most times I don't look to see if it's being given back.
Doesn't really matter if they do or not.
But I would say, most do around these parts.

I wave at Wranglers, Gladiators, Old Jeeps, new Jeeps, Nice Motorcycles and anyone that has a nice rig no matter what it is. I also wave if someone has the American flag or a Veteran plate. I am good if they do not wave back, if they wave back, if they flip me off. Doesn't matter. I am enjoying the day and driving my Jeep so all good.

Not sure how you'd note a dirty look if you were too late if you were watching traffic and not looking over a lane or behind you, but whatever LOL
It's very hit and miss here. The ones that wave are generally Wrangler people (any type) - one guy had his window down and extended his arm clear out in a very obvious "wave", others raise the two fingers. And some just drive and look ahead.
Iowa is just weird that way. Clubs don't generally survive long, shows are hard to get put together.
You can be driving down any nondiscriminate country black top in Iowa and the farmer's wife that you don't know from Adam will look up from her gardening to wave.

Except in Polk County. You get the one-finger salute from other drivers there if they even think for a second you may be in their way or aren't going fast enough for them or they want to cut across 4 lanes for that exit they almost missed because they were reading or texting and you are in their way.
A friend I met when I did online support for Symantec lived in Toronto. Not a small town. His fiancé lived in Eugene, OR. He flew to Eugene and they drove her car across the US back to Toronto where they were to be married. Since they were taking I80 through Iowa, I told them stop by, stay the night, we'd eat out and catch up. At the time we were to meet up we were waiting at a gas station near the restaurant - he pulled into the gas station, got out, and his first words were "I knew we were approaching West Des Moines because the friendly attitudes turned to honking, getting cut off and getting fingered. He had heard about this part of Iowa long ago but didn't believe it until he drove into it. He's a believer now. He thought it was used to traffic, dumb and rude drivers being where he lived, and figured hey, he's driving through how many states and how many bigger cities, how bad can it be? He found out.
I'll never forget his words - the first things he said when he got out of her car.

My son agrees - he says in some places they drive that way because they have to - heavy traffic, you have to take your chance when it comes up, you can't be really nice - but he says the reasoning here is totally different. He's driven in China, Korea and other countries as well as many U.S. states and can't believe the drivers here.

I totally forgot about the Jeep wave when I got the JT. I wave at Jeeps. I try not to miss. But as an introvert, I don't want to be the first one to wave and have the wave hanging. :giggle:

I think my wife gets the wave more often than I do.

My buddy rides motorcycles and was chased down by another rider when he failed to wave as they passed. :D

I was 4/4 on waves today. I was actively watching out for them today on the way to work.

If I miss a wave I also miss the dirty look and if I don’t notice the wave I’ll probably not notice that dirty look either.

I wave at everyone, especially if I’m at home and outside. I read an FBI stat one time. They say if someone is driving down your street and they are up to no good, that by waving at them could possibly make them re think there activities in that are. Reason being is that, when you wave at someone and they wave back they normally look at you. You would be able to describe them to the cops. Not sure how much truth is in it? That’s why I carry a gun also. ?

I'm in SE Alabama. On a dirt road, nearly 100% wave rate regardless of vehicle. Paved county road; typically 50% wave rate regardless of vehicle and 100% wave rate between wranglers/gladiators. 2-lane state highway wave rate typically around 75% between wranglers/gladiators. In town wave rates typically above 90% between wranglers/gladiators. Females with their hard-top, window-up, a/c blowing, spotless mall crawlers are typically the non-wavers. Wranglers/Gladiators with windows down, top off/back, and/or doors off have a near 100% wave rate regardless of gender or road type.

Plenty wave here in Virginia. I can pass 4 Jeeps a mile, so many get missed. I think people understand.

I've actually gotten a few waves here lately, and given out way more than gotten. Sometimes I don't think that the Cherokee and Renegade crowd got the memo, because they sure don't do much waving, most returned waves are from Wrangler folks. And, women always seem to be pre-occupied with other things or think that you're creeping on them, I have gotten to where I don't even bother unless I see a wave first.
This is our second Wrangler/Gladiator (we used to have a '97 TJ), but our third "jeep", since we have a compass. We never wave in the compass and have never gotten one either. I wave at Wranglers, CJs, old military Jeeps, Gladiators, and modded XJs. That's it. Most of them wave back. I don't think compass/renegade/modern Cherokee owners would even know to wave, and there are way too many of them anyway. It'd be non-stop.

I've ridden motorcycles for over 30 years, plenty of waves (other bikes).
When I had my CJ, plenty of waves.
Vintage MGB-GT, plenty of waves (from everybody).
Road cycling, plenty of waves from fellow cyclists.
Gladiator, plenty of waves.

I drive my wife's car just so my arm can recuperate.
