Motorcycle riders usually lower their arm and hold out a few fingers to other riders. When my doors were off I noticed a few bikes that waved to me, threw me off but I returned. I also notice more of the Wrangler crowd waves with successive steps of removing the roof (more for full roof off than only freedom panels) and even more waving with roof and doors off. Having mud on it seems to help too.
In general most of the Jeeple that wave are Wranglers and now Gladiators. It's said this comes from ye olden days when troops driving the Jeeps during the war weren't supposed to salute, so they did a mini wave. This trend continued with the CJ and all through the Wranglers now. In the civilian Jeeps it was a sign of comradery as the vehicles sort of sucked ass and it took a "special" kind of person that drove it. you waved because you were in that club of few people. Now the tradition carries on in the Wranglers, and since our trucks are slightly truncated JLs with a bed on the back, we inherited the wave too. Some Wranglers don't think we're worthy so won't wave to us *shrugs*.
I've noticed a lot of women don't wave, so I don't wave at them anymore first. If they wave first I have no problem giving it back
The other Jeep models don't get waves in general because they don't 'come from that bloodline'. Some people on here will wave to the old XJs and other older models of Jeep (and fewer still will wave to older models of offroaders). Don't offended if other models don't wave back, they aren't really a part of that :P
