I’m driving a 2020 Sport S with 12,400 ish miles on it. I haven’t had any issues with it and the truck has been turning on and off fine. Yesterday, I drove around as I usually do. The vehicle was turned off for 10 minutes and then it tried to crank on but didn’t. I was able to jump it but then the “Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon” warning was displayed. Before it turned off, It felt as if the power steering wasn’t working. The vehicle shut off shortly after that. It was towed to the nearest dealership for a diagnostic.

I got a call from dealer today telling me the warranty was voided and that I would need to pay the $150 diagnostic fee and any potential repairs needed to be paid for out of pocket. He cited that it was obvious the vehicle had been driven through water and that there was moisture under the hood, therefore voiding the warranty. I do not go mudding nor do I do serious off-roading. I’ve driven on service roads with little to no obstacles. I live in Florida and there are puddles but I’ve never driven in anything that was significant enough to make me worry about potential damage. Furthermore, The truck had been operating fine until this random issue yesterday.

Has anyone had similar issues? Am i just having bad luck with dealership service center? Any input is appreciated!

Interesting. I have a 2020 gladiator that is doing the exact same thing hence why I’m on the forum. Only 18 000 km and I’ve NEVER driven it through water I’m in the city

They said my aftermarket radio was the cause and thought that was funny, because I install within the first month of having it, brought them the OEM radio to amuse myself and for them to rule it out, they told me to come get it and it would be 700 dollars, so being the smartass that I am from time to time decided to start it before handing any money over and low and behold, same problem, those aftermarket radios are quite destructive for Gladiator. Extremely disappointed in these jeep technicians. Mine was still under warranty. So be careful when having any aftermarket parts installed.:bandit:

Just had this happen to me yesterday, and my JT is now at a dealership to be diagnosed. Fingers are crossed that I have the same positive outcome the OP did.

Will do. I’m currently awaiting their return call with an initial diagnosis. My JT has never been exposed to any deep water (beyond a normal puddle in the road), and this occurred during a light rain. I’m concerned that the dealer may deny a warranty claim similar to what the OP went through. We’ll see…

What was the resolution to this? My 2022 gladiator high altitude is doing this the past 2 months. This is the 3rd time at the dealership and the techs can’t figure out what is wrong with it

For me, it was the Z case fuse array that blew due to an unknown short in the system. We know the “what”, what they dealership wasn’t able to tell me was the “why.” I now carry an additional fuse array with me, but still doesn’t instill a lot of confidence. I wish I knew why this happened, instead of giving me a shrug and saying, “well, you have a lot of accessories.” I have lights all properly wired to the correctly fused factory AUX switches, then my comms and fridge to a separate fuse block, that then leads to a circuit breaker before the battery.

@JeepCares FYI

Multiple dealer visits are certainly frustrating. If you need support while there, send us a private message.

Be cautious using an automotive circuit breaker.
I tested one once, and the damn thing took ~200% rated current before it tripped!

Wow, and I've used them for years -starting with the high-end mullti-amp stereo system I put in my Comanche, up to my current SX4 where I rewired the headlights to operate through relays - powered through breakers.

ive heard of stuff like this before, sounds like the dealer is trying to make money off of you. They likely put a void into your warranty at the dealership and anywhere you take it, they will see it.
