So I installed 1.5 Terraflex over the weekend. Not to bad even if you have never done this before, a little common sense is all it takes, even self alignment is super easy (all thanks to YouTube!!) Now I bought hockey pucks to use as bump stop extensions. I did not end up installing because it seems impossible to get any type of nut on the bottom side!!! Let alone any type of wrench! I do not have the Teraflex bump stops with the little wrench because I bought the spacers separately as I was only going to go 1" at first. Anyone have any tips or suggestions??

I feel your pain. When I installed the Mopar lift on my JL, and later on my JT, the front bump stops were the biggest PITA of the entire job. I bought some Craftsman flex reversible ratcheting box wrenches. I was able to use the angled box head to reach the nut under the mounting base. There's a small bracket held in place by one screw that you can remove to give you "better" access/clearance to the nut. I used a pipe wrench to hold the bump stop in place through the spring while I torqued the nut down. It was slow going, but I finally got both sides tightened down.

This was literally the ONLY problem I had installing the entire lift. I refused to make the walk of shame into the dealership to get them to tighten 2 nuts.

I experienced the same issue, worse on the front passenger side, when I installed my Mopar lift on my JL.

An old trick we used if the spring was not being removed was to get a hockey puck and some red RTV and forget using a bolt. Works amazingly well.

I used carriage bolts with torque washers on them. This locks the carriage bolt into the top puck. I then used an oil filter wrench to tighten them while just holding a wrench on the nut on the bottom.

In hindsight, I would have just drilled out and installed a riv nut. Not enough thickness to drill and tap.

If you remove the brake line retention bracket it's easier to get a wrench in on that side I found. Just hold from the bottom and tighten from the top with a flex ratchet (I used a 1/4") and hex bit and it was pretty easy for me.

Teraflex has way too long a bolt for their bump extensions though... I'd look for a shorter one if you want to make it a bit easier or just use loctite and a normal flange nut instead of the nyloc - then all you'd need a wrench for is to tighten that last little bit.

A lot of good info! Not sure about using red RTV or glue, seems it would break loose over time or with a solid hit from the bump stop.?

You can look for a flag nut that fits the bolt and has a long enough flag on it

Teraflex has included that little stamped sheet metal wrench with its kits since the days of their first JK lifts. Makes this pita job a little easier.
