I’m a few short weeks away from purchasing my first JT Rubicon. Not planing on getting the diesel as there seems to be some issues with it from what I researched. Would it be better to get the 2020 year or go ahead and get the 2021?

If you can find one equipped the way you want it on a lot, it will likely be a '20 model. If you order, it will end up being a '21 model. The '20 model should be just a little bit cheaper on insurance and registration. The '21 model is more likely to have the improved steering box. Other than that, no compelling reason to choose one over the other.

The 2021 has the full time on demand auto 4wd option on all trim levels.

It will be about a plus $695 difference in cost for select trac, also the 2021 standard color is white, everything else is $245 extra. You don’t need selec trac but it is really nice ,have it on wifes JL Wrangler, driving in rain, snow you just shift the lever and you are in fulltime 4WD, can leave it that way forever if ya want. Really nice drivng in NE in winter when ice and snow can just show up on the road while your driving. Reports that there might be less strength due to using CV joints, but don’t know for sure. I ordered it on my 2021 Mohave and was glad to have the choice ......Jack

Does the SelecTrac transfer case have a Neutral position, so it can still be towed behind an RV?

There is a neutral on my wife's 2019JL. The shiftt pattern has is back from 2WD
