I tow my 5000lbs camper have 8k on my Willie's diesel. Just did a 300mile trip to the Adirondack mountains and back to camp for the weekend. I have had zero issues. Cost of def is about 20 bucks to fill it it lasted me about 6000 miles. Not even worth thinking about if spending 55k on a truck. If 20 bucks Is an expense that will sway you away then buy a Ford ranger..
Yes maintenance is slightly more expensive. Driving a diesel is more expensive. And driving a diesel is 100% worth the added expense to me. Mine has been very reliable.
My oil temps in the mountains were around 145 at 55 on rural roads. If you want your truck to pull without high rpms and gear hunting buy the diesel. The transmission in the diesel is amazing. And very common in high output rigs.
Buy the diesel and enjoy ?
