All right boys and girls, I just picked up my rubicon. I’m asking for help on lift kit size, brand, tire size. I will be driving it daily, and looking to do moderate off road. Asking for support on how much lift and what brand. Also am I better off running 35s or will 37s not kill my gas mileage? Thanks in advance

Daily driver - 35s if you're at all concerned about MPG. To fit 35s on a Rubi you don't need a lift, and even stock it can handle quite a bit off road. 35s you also don't need to worry about regearing.

So my advice, if you're wanting to keep MPGs somewhat reasonable, and keep those comfortable daily driver qualities, I'd simply run a nice set of 35s and THEN decide if you actually need/want a lift and 37s for what you use it for.

I have a rubicon as well. So far have kept it stock. It’s my daily driver. Next set of tires will need to happen this year. My own debate - keep ride height and go with 35’s since you can without any lift, or go with a 2” ish lift and 37” tires. (IMO once lifted 35’s look too small.) Been looking at different lift options. Eager to see what gets posted on this thread.

That’s where I’m stuck. I want 2-3” lift and have decent gas mileage. I know I’m asking a lot.

I have a Clayton Offroad 2,5" Overland Plus Lift, running 37 x 12.50 Nitto RidgeGrapplers. I still have the 4.10 gears and my average MPG since lifting 1 yr ago is 16.7. On highway trips running 70 mph I average between 18-19 MPG. The added ground clearance prevents me from turtling as much as when I was stock. I have plenty of pics to share if needed, love this truck.

What is "decent gas mileage" mean to you?

I have found going to 35's on my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon, I lost about 0.5 to 1.0 MPG's. Add a heavy bumper and 2" lift and I lost about the same again in MPG's added on.

90% of MPG savings is going to come from your driving style. You may have to temper expectations on having a lift, larger tires and still expect to pull in decent MPG numbers. Cannot have it all.

No I understand that totally. I guess im looking for the most practical solution. I’m not gonna go crazy off road but will do more the the pavement princess . I guess I want the best of both worlds. I know I know. I’m asking a lot but I’m trying to get input from both sides. Sorry to be a pain. I’m just super excited to be back in the Jeep game. But on the same side after paying so much for this one I’m looking to play it on the safe side but still want to enjoy the off road side of it.

You are not a pain. I am just from the camp that there is no solutions, just trade offs. You have to pick which ones you can live with.

Sounds like you are doing your due diligence in getting info and asking questions. That puts you way ahead of most new owners.

If you have the diesel, 37’s, & 2-3” lift should still get 20-22mpg on the highway ??‍♂

I promised the wife to keep the JTM with no lift. I have 37s on a JLUR for offroading. After adding a slight front lift with springs to compensate for the heavy bumper, I will eventually upgrade to 35s for street use with no more lift needed as I don't want to regear this Mojave. The fuel economy on my JLUR with 2.5-3" AEV lift is high teens with 4:56 gearing. Quite reasonable for me. Great on highway, trails, etc.
