Question for your who I consider the experts here.

Dealer says the diesel needs to be driven every day and need to be driven a decent distance. Says the diesel likes to be driven kind of hard.

I've never heard this before and my 2012 Mercedes 3500 Sprinter sits a lot with no issues. Is this a Jeep issue or not an issue at all?

Thank you in advance for you experience and safe advice.

I wouldn't say they have to be driven everyday but I do agree that diesels dont like short trips especially with DEF. You at least need to get it up to operating temps. I try not to do less than a 20 min drive and I am fortunate to live close enough to use the interstate to get across town so I can make sure there's no regen issues...

My 2020 EcoDiesel has 16,000 miles on it. It only gets driven maybe twice per month. We use it mostly for towing, but I try to drive it at least once every few weeks. Otherwise, it sits with a charger, maintainer, and desulfator hooked to the battery. When we do drive the 2020, it usually gets driven on long trips.

I daily drive my 2015 EcoDiesel. It's mostly short trips (8 miles to work and 7 miles home each day). When not commuting to work, we do some towing with it and long-distance trips. I just turned 100,000 miles on the 2015.

Diesels are fun to drive. I wouldn't let the dealer discourage you as long as you understand that modern diesels are not cheap to maintain or repair. Most people don't keep their diesels for long. I think the 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty is nice. I'm keeping both EcoDiesel trucks for the next 20+ years, so I'm fully prepared for future upkeep, maintenance, and repairs.

-2F dead cold start and driving after sitting 3-4 days verified. As my friend ex chief engineer of Chrysler says: FCA cold weather testing is pretty substantial, there should not be any issues.
Thing starts better cold than any gas vehicle I owned

This has been my experience after the first week of ownership. It's only gotten down to about 10-15F at night, but start up is rather uneventful. My 09 JKU sounds much worse starting in the cold.
