Not that it's much of a datapoint, but I read Motor Trend's 2022 Buyers Guide this morning, and they have the Extreme Recon package noted for the Wrangler, but the Gladiator is in the "no significant changes" list at the end of the Jeep section.
Yeah they have no idea what's going on - you can get the XR package on a 2021. Really disappointing when supposed authorities on the subject miss stuff like that. It's like when a Bronco review slams the JL/JT steering or on-road feel as rough but then neglects to mention the solid axles.

I agree that it's a notable omission, but the flip side of that is that the VAST majority of Wrangler buyers have no idea what a solid axle is or why it's good/bad. In the forums, the off road crowd is vastly over represented relative to the actual owners of the vehicle. Most Wranglers get groceries, take kids to school, commute, etc. I've heard people in flat, hot, dry parts of the country tell me to my face they need four wheel drive because it rains sometimes. There's a few people in my neighborhood who have front wheel drive cars up here, and get along just fine (with studded snow tires).

The Wranglers don't have to pass the towing tests the Gladiator does. Bring your 6.4L packing JT up here, and tow at capacity up 70 in July. I'll meet you around the Evergreen exit.
Do you have a JT? How has it performed around Evergreen/Mtn area?

This is so not a problem to me. They just need to come out with it already. I'd order it the same day like it was a friggin iPhone if I could.
Agreed. For something midcycle which won’t get any major press, I don’t see what Jeep gains by announcing even one day in advance from their perspective. Let people order as many 2021s as they can…

Of course personally I wish they’d share the entire roadmap, but as much as I wish it was the case I know Jeep isn’t in business for my personal satisfaction :)

Not yet. That's why I'm so active in this thread. My wife has a JK (our only vehicle until I get my JT), and we're a little south of Conifer. My parents have a JL (in Evergreen), and they are about to replace their other car, so must like it better. I've driven it, and the only complaint I can think of is that it doesn't have a good place for my right arm while driving (compared to the T shift handle in my Bison).

Are you insinuating the 392 would over heat? I have a scat pack and that car will go run after run after run down Bandimere back to back on a 100+ degree July day and it’s consistent. Towing is obviously a different story but i don’t think it would have an issue.

I miss my B5 Blue Scat Pack Challenger. I don’t miss my daughter complaining about being crammed in the back seat.

I had one for a short while. The color was "Plum Crazy Pearl", with the Shaker. The backseat is way bigger than what we have in the Gladiators. They are very roomy. Challengers are not small cars, despite being two doors. It's the last of its kind. A full size two door coupe.

Love that color! Wife wouldn’t let me get it lol. But yeah, they’re a dying breed.

I guess big back seat is relative. Compared to sitting in our Grand Cherokee, not so much.
Oh yeah compared to that they’re small haha.

Well... I think it's safe to say it's effectively the end of the day. Last day of what would have been the New York Auto Show. Zero announcements from the New York Auto Show that wasn't... Gladiator or any other model. Now we all get to sit and twiddle our thumbs for another... Three weeks and change... FCA/Stellantis's website says the show opens 9/21, but clicking through the link to the Texas Auto Show website says 9/25... through 10/17... That's a LONG window.

It seemed pretty solid that the New York Auto Show would host the reveal. Production/order startup/shutdown dates made it look like a sure thing. Timing relative to past years' releasing of information similarly suggested it would have been the last week or so. I guess Covid-related delays have pushed it back. Not a huge surprise, just a huge disappointment.

If we don't get information during the Texas Auto Show, the last one of the year is LA, starting 11/17. So... Here's the question. Based on what's currently known and/or "known", what's it going to be? NY seemed like a surefire bet. Texas now seems surefire. NY wasn't, so why isn't Texas? Why might LA be?

Texas is a nothing auto show. I’m sure there are some trim or option annoucements in the truck space but it’s not part of the major circuit. LA is usually the first show of the NEXT circuit (for cars coming out in the fall of the next year as, in this case, 2023 models). Detroit is the big show, though they’re tentatively moving to the summer which jacks the schedule up (tentative because they announced the move but then canceled the show due to COVID).

I see little reason why Jeep would be beholden to any auto show calendar to release Wrangler updates at this stage of its lifecycle.

If this isn’t the mid cycle refresh and it is next year like others have said, maybe they will just do a soft release and not announce it an auto show? You’ll find out through autoblog, car and driver, motor 1, motortrend etc. According to that donlen website orders open on the 9th of September. Idk how much I believe that site though….Hasn’t been very accurate this year.
