I really hope this gets Jeep to make more equipment standard on the base Gladiators.

I don't mind the manual windows or locks on my base Sport but it blows my mind that Jeep is the only one still offering this in 2022. Also some of the basic things like LED lighting are sold as options that are ridiculously overpriced imo.
manual locks and windows on a base means you can disconnect the door electronics and leave them disconnected. To my knowledge all they do in a base sport is door ajar stuff like interior lights and ajar warnings.

I already have all my retention pins removed, and the door stops for my front doors pushed in in my mojave. If i didn't have a family i probably would have just gotten a softtop willys sport and pushed in the rear doorstops and tucked away the door harnesses so all there is to taking off a door is open and lift.

I recently watched a live discussion among off-road YouTubers. The subject turned to the different vehicles people used. Eventually, someone said, "Why isn't there much of an aftermarket for the Chevy Colorado?". At this everyone else laughed. They mentioned the abysmal quality of 21st century Chevrolet and someone added, "And the Colorado does nothing particularly well."

My first car was a Chevy Beretta (ironically the only GM my wife and I have ever owned), but I'm always rooting for GM. I'm glad to see this new Colorado looks to be a winner. Hopefully the GMC Canyon follows suit.
I remember when Chevrolet offered the Beretta, Lumina and Corsica. They appeared to be the same car with different badges. Never could figure that out. But everyone I knew who drove a Chevrolet back than learned to despise the Bowtie. Those cars took only a brief pause between the assembly line and the junk yard. I can't remember the last time I saw an older, post-1970s Chevrolet on the road. Yesterday I was stunned to see a Mercury Topaz next to me at an intersection. I haven't seen one of those in the wild since the '90s.

I used to travel a lot for work and rented a lot of cars. The worst car I ever drove in my entire life was a Chevrolet Cavalier. Oh, the humanity! It was gutless. It handled poorly. The seats were brutal. And the floor pan was shaped in a way to not allow my left foot to placed anywhere comfortably.

The second worst car I ever drove was a Chevrolet HHR. Phooey!

Glad to see GM keeping the Colorado going and hopefully making improvements. I bought a 2007 regular cab Xtreme with the poorly designed I-5 nearly 15 years ago that I still use as a daily driver. 235k miles on it. I abuse the hell out of it. Neglect damn near everything. Change the oil when it starts ticking (about every 3k miles). Never had synthetic in it. Never changed any other fluid in it. According to GM, it's needed a new cylinder head for the past 12 years due to their flawed design (burns valves). I opted not to pursue that when they told me it would cost $5k to fix it (out of warranty by 2 months. Boy did that piss me off). Been driving it ever since. It refuses to die.

I just wish they would have a base model sport that could have front and rear lockers added like the bronco does. I know that’s been beet around for a while now though so no use talking about it.

I was the guy that got the added torque and power out of the 2.7L and I can tell you the vehicle teams were targeting the Gladiator as a competitor.

As a JTR owner myself, thinking of daily driver, the Colorado wins hands down - but that's not why I bought a JTR instead of waiting for the new Colorado. I wanted a Jeep, so I bought one - but I think people cross-shopping between would go with the Colorado if they had a chance to drive each of them. (and if GM doesn't price them out of the segment)

I wish the JT had some version of the I4 turbo in Ranger and now Colorado. V6 loses 3% of power for every 1k feet in altitude. So in Denver Metro, I'm at 15% power loss. In the real mountains, I'm 24-30% loss.
They offer the ecodiesel for this reason.

If you're cross shopping them, then you dont need/want a convertible jeep with a truck bed and honestly any current truck is a better daily driver than the JT. The JT is a wrangler with a bed, and much like the wrangler before the bronco, is the only real player in the segment. The gladiator is a lifestyle vehicle, you buy it not because its the best daily driver or pickup (its neither of those) but because you like the jeep appeal and are okay with the tradeoffs it comes with. That said, the JL and JT are still great daily drivers even if behind IFS and the JT is really only hampered by its shallow bed in the midsize pickup segment as far as utility.

Crazy so if I shipped mine to Bogota to live, it would be at a 24% loss of power at 8k feet.

I get by with a bed extender for what I need. :)

The length is actually about the same between midsize trucks (at least their short beds, all the others also have a long bed option). Its actually the shallowness of the bed under the tonneau compared to other trucks that I find to be the most limiting when i'm trying to go camping or haul stuff I dont want exposed.

I still have my OG Chevy Colorado, it will be getting a new motor soon since the main bearings on #5 rolled and locked the motor up.

I REALLY want a JT Mojave with the right color and hoping for something better engine wise. If the price is right on the new ZR2.........I might just add to my current fleet of GM trucks. GM also listened this time and the sunroof is back in the Colorado.
