Yeah, I think everybody on both sides knows that any dealer doc fee is just a money grab. Just been normalized in most markets.My take is that the paperwork, etc. is part of the cost of doing business.
You figure in all that it takes to order, receive, prep and sell, the facilities, utilities, staff and so on - it's part of doing business. No other business charges you a separate fee for the paperwork involved in the business. When you rent a tool they don't charge for the paperwork involved.
They could charge for every little detail, every person involved along the way.
It's one of the costs of doing business. It's overhead.
Some dealerships don't even charge that fee.
