Hello!
I’ve had my 22 gladiator high altitude for about 6 months and 4500 miles. Yesterday, my truck seemed to have a misfire. It was sputtering and the check engine flashing. It eventually went back to normal. I called the dealerships in my area (I bought out of state) and was told that loaners are not available until months down the line. This is my only truck, and my primary vehicle. Im in the northeast of MA and called Kelly jeep, and their suggestion was not to drive it, but also couldn’t provide me with any sort of alternate transportation if I were to drop it off. Im not entirely sure what they were expecting me to do (this was told to me by the dealerships GM). Anyone else having issues with dealerships like this? As a customer that’s very early in ownership, I would have expected them to at least have a solution or be able to work towards one. I called around to other dealers who just tell me sorry no loaners. I did not expect to have this poor level of customer service for a 60k vehicle so early in ownership. Anyone else dealing with the same issues?

Not surprised, pretty sure all dealers are not doing loaners, customer service is non existent. I am also in the same area, Kelly was your best chance they are supposed to be the largest dealer in the US, they seem to have plenty of new Jeeps don’t know why they can’t put some in service as loaners.

It's pretty common, and not just with jeep. Take a look at the car lots around you. Excess inventory, new or used, is scarce right now. Rental cars are expensive too. Sucks, but not surprising at all.

I just received a recall notice that would seem to cover your issue. The notice indicates that your dealer can do a software update that should only require about 30 minutes to complete. I have an appointment for tomorrow.

My dealer is a gem. Absolutely love them and their customer service. When they did a warrenty replacement of my windshield they had it approved within 24 hours, then they asked if I wanted to bring it in or they can send their staff to my work or my house. I said house. They then asked what fit my schedule best and nailed right to what worked for me. My plan is now to drop off some donuts to the service advisors (dont need anything) just to say thanks. They have loaners if I need one. When I purchased, they handed me the keys for the test drive and said I could drive it all day if I wanted as long as I did not leave the state. They have inventory on their lot. :)

No loaners at my Jeep dealer where I recently took mine for a transmission replacement. They said they have 2 loaners and a long waiting list for one.

My Ford dealer gave me a used car off their lot. They asked if I bought it there, I did. It seems that is what qualified their decision to give me something off their used lot.

I'm in Oklahoma and am taking my 22 Rubicon in Friday for multiple misfires and the PCM update. After reading over 100 pages on the forum this past weekend about misfire issues I am worried. My dealer is a small town family owned place and they have been great to work with but no loaners here either. The Ford I traded in was in the shop twice last fall but at least the local Ford dealer had loaners even with low inventory. Up until a few years ago I always had it added to the contract that the dealer would provide a loaner if I had a vehicle in for work that took longer than a day. I have been kicking myself for not doing that this time.

My 22 JT has been in the shop for 60 days or so of the 5 months I've owned it, 35 days in one stretch, every day I have had a comp'd rental vehicle from the dealer

This sounds like a reasonable solution. The dealer never offered me this though. I know they have rental reimbursement through the jeep wave, but not only covers a small amount after I pay for it.

If you are under warranty and have @JeepCares involved they should be able to get you one from Enterprise or some other local rental place.

My dearship always gives me a rental from hertz when the loaners are not available. I have a 2018 Grand cherokee with an eco diesel and it likes to spend time at the dealer.

I went through the same thing. Had an unplanned repair need, dealership had a two week backlog. JeepCares offered like $25 or $35 a day towards rental car, which is probably pretty good pre-COVID, but now the cheapest ones in my area were $85/day.

So I just did without and worked around it the best I could.
