I thought some people might find it interesting to see the results of my tire install. I wanted the tallest and widest tire I could put on my Mojave with the 7.5” rim. Sure, you can cram a bigger/wider tire onto the rim but I wanted something that would wear well and drive on the street most of the time. I went with the BFG KO3 in 295/70/17. It’s supposed to measure out at 33.3” whereas the 285/70/17 is a little narrower but 33.8” tall. In actuality, it’s a hair under 33” installed. Overall, I’m very happy with the look. Here are some pics:

The standard 392 rims are only 7.5“ for some reason. Surprising they are not bigger. You can run 35s on Mojave’s but BFG specs call for 8-10“ rim. It looks like the Falken you’re running goes down to a 7.5”.

285/70r17's are not 33.8 but more like 32.8... 285/75r17 are in the 33.8 range and would look better being bigger, same for 35x11.5, but hey those wheels do look good on the Mojave!

I did the 295/70/17. It was supposed to be 33.3” but is shorter in reality.

All tires are significantly shorter once mounted and under the weight of the Jeep with proper air pressure! My 35's were just over 33, my 37's are just over 35. All normal, all good!! I would have loved to keep my JLUXR wheels when I traded for the Mojave. If those wheels are from an XR packaged 392 they are 8 inches wide with different back spacing. I say toss some 38's on there!!

Yup those wheels are not 7.5”. Mine are and I put a 37” KO2 on them. If I could find a Xtreme Recon wheel I will put that on.

I own two sets of those 392 Mopar wheels. I chose them because they be capable and they’re going to be the lightest with the factory offset I wanted 44.45MM. They don’t poke out they’re right at the fender line. They’re only available from 2021 to 2023. Yes they are 7.5 inch width but once you turn them into a bed lock wheel they go to 8.5 inches. Tire manufacturers circumference comes from the width of the wheel when they publish the information they will publish the width they used to achieve the quoted circumference of the tire on the website.

I found a supplier on AliExpress and purchased the titanium bolts that look like the original for the bead lock conversion. The ring I got from a company here that makes them in the USA. With the ring and titanium ring bolts the wheel weighs 33 pounds. For all of these reasons this wheel is very special to me. 8.5 inch and no poking out plus lightweight compared to any bead lock.

Very interesting… I’m curious how adding the beadlock rings makes the rims an inch wider? I thought the rings were just taller than the standard Jeep ones.

You're moving the bead of the tire to the outside of the rim and it's held in place by the ring. I doubt you gain a full inch, but technically it would be wider. Of course there are no DOT approved wheels fhat are beadlock, even if the rim is DOT approved when not used as a headlock.

They’re definitely 8 1/2” in the beadlock. Configuration. DOT approval is one thing, but in my state there is no law against using beadlocked wheels. This is the case in many states. Probably why Jeep was comfortable in making it a dual functioning wheel. It’s up to the person they have to take care of the torque specs on them.

For me, it’s no question to have it in Beadlock I get 8 1/2 inches with it’s nicely tucked in offset right at the edge of the fender. I can air down very low and not lose a bead. I can even mount them in my garage and balance them with silicone ceramic ABC balancing beads. Not for everybody, but it is for me.

Do you see a difference from the stock falken at3? Might go with this option but wanna gain a little bit in height and width.
