Engine tick reported in these 3.6L Pentastar engines have a lot of variable. My speculation in your case is either a lifter sticking until it warms up and takes up the excess valve lash and/or and assembly error where the intake and exhaust lifters might have been put into incorrectly installed positions.if this is valve train issue as u say, is it common the sound disappear when engine is warmed up ?
i bought this car as used one. when i got this car it was 5.9K miles at first n i changed oil twice so far. n yeah my first winter w this car.Is this your first winter cold weather season with it? That’s pretty low mileage for a 2020. Is this the original engine? How many oil changes has it had?
well at least i hope this is not piston problem . thx for reply.Engine tick reported in these 3.6L Pentastar engines have a lot of variable. It will get worse over time to the point it will be evident with the engine warmed up.
My daughter-in-law is Korean. She operates two schools over there.well at least i hope this is not piston problem . thx for reply.
in my case, i can hear it after only 2hours cooling.I remember early on with my first engine and talking with the service manager, he made the comment “if there’s a tic noise in the engine, bring it in for them to hear as it could be a failing cam, but the noise is specific and we have to hear it. “
Id book it in over night so it’s cold for them to listen too.
i'll upload another warmed up engine sound vid laterMy daughter-in-law is Korean. She operates two schools over there.
Small world.........
Anyway, piston slap is a bit different sound. Valve train is tick tick tick.
If the sound goes away as it warms, there's not likely physical damage. I've noticed that many of these engines have a bit more "tick" when cold. Will listen again on a different computer with better sound.

your tick sound. was it same as mine? watch vid above.i second that, i have a slight tick sound when the engine is cold, only lasts a couple minutes, got over 60k miles now with the super on it, no lights or other issues, the tick is very faint. as of this moment i am not worried about it.
though i did pay more attention last year as i seen the threads on the improper installation parts in other threads, getting codes, having to replace cams etc. but i have not had any other associated issues other than a faint tick when cold.
