Any one done this yet on your 2020/21 JT 3.6? I’m at
108k kms and I’m sure it should be changed out.

If you have, can you explain the process or point to a video that explains this process?
Thanks

Yup, most manufacturers went to the sock style fuel filters in the mid 2000s

If you really want to change the filter, you have to replace the fuel pump module (that is, the fuel pump, sending unit, and filter all together in one assembly). This involves dropping the fuel tank, and is the reason there is no fuel filter maintenance in the schedules for maintenance.

Couldn’t a filter be spliced in ? I put in a filter for the power steering pump so why not??

In theory it is possible. BUT... the fuel line is plastic, so there would be issues with how the connections between line and filter are made. The fuel system operates at around 58 PSI, so a leak proof connection is essential.

There are also liability issues if a shop were involved, these are not to be taken lightly. A shop in a nearby town that was run by a friend about thirty years ago replaced an engine in a van with a used engine. It looked good, ran well, and apparently had a small leak at the fuel line to fuel rail connection. I say apparently, because after the fire there wasn't enough left to
determine exactly what was leaking. My friend bought, or rather his insurance bought, that van.

The best thing to do would be to use a busy gas station that doesn't have a reputation for selling bad fuel. A busy station selling a lot of fuel is less likely to have water or other contaminants in the fuel storage tanks. I wish that fuel filters on gas engines were serviceable, but it has been quite a while since they were.

Oh the rabbit holes these threads lead… I’ll try to stay on track and hopefully by the end of it we aren’t discussing which car wash technique is the best

I could be done but it's not worth it.
The sock in the tank would still do the original filtering therefore it would still clog before the "new" filter necessitating the replacement of the module before the added filter.
