Trying to take advantage of the Discount Tire Direct flash sale, they are sold out of many of the lower priced options in 35x12.50x17 but have a few good choices in stock in the 315/70/17 size. Since it looks like the actual size of most 35" tires is actually around 34.5 -- it seems like these two tire size options are very close to each other. Any reason why I would avoid a 315/70/17 tire? This is for a base Sport with a 2" Synergy spring lift.

Depends on the tire. Sometimes the 35s have a heavier load range than the 315s and typically a 35 is an MT and a 315 is an AT. Overall they're pretty much the same tho.

Wow! I’m interested in seeing the responses.
Cause...This question exactly!
I’ve been trying to decide between the BFGoodrich A/T KO2
35”x12.5”x17 vs. 315/70r/17
I’m leaning towards the 315/70r/17, in C rating

It DOES have a lighter load but from my research (online and in person) it has a “softer” ride, 6 ply sidewalks instead of 10ply?!

SINCE my Gladiator (Overland with 2” Mopar lift) will be a “weekend warrior”, daily driver with weekend fun (sun and sand, snowy mountains, light off roading) and my son is a 2 sport varsity player so we spend a lot of time on the go...I’m interested in quiet Smooth highway rides.

BUT...I Really like the big aggressive look and not sure if I’ll lose that with the “comfort”?

I just put in my order for the BFGoodrich A/T KO2 in 315/70/17. Ultimately the C load rating, lighter weight and cheaper price were the deciding factors. My OTD price, after all rebates, will be around $900.

I was lucky enough to get a few pictures from other members of this tire on their Gladiators. For an A/T these tires still have a pretty aggressive look, so they seems to be a good compromise vs a true M/T.

In those conversations it seems the real debate is should I be going to a 37". I've been told first hand that you can fit this tire in a 37" with only a 2" lift. In fact I was told that this tire in a 35" with the 2" lift leave 9" of wheel gap. Here is a pic Rubicon/2" Mopar Lift/BFG 315:

Problem is the 37 is quite a bit more expensive and heavier. The heavier part is my concern since I've only got sport axles.

That's awesome information. I had NO idea the 2" lift could handle the 37" I bet that looks AMAZING!! That said with everything you mentioned, it simply means more money $$$$ on every one of those miles I drive...yikes...However I have always been a tomboy that likes her Jimmy Choos...lol!! Kinda like lifted a Jeep in big 'ol fat tires!!

WoW!! That's an amazing price. I was looking at America's Tire (the West Coast Discount Tire) and the cheapest I can get 4 is $1173.

That's what's weird, I saw $100 off when I first started "shopping" by the time I put them in the cart it was gone. I'm happy for you, always glad to see someone getting a good deal!!

Discount Tire Direct is doing a $100 flash sale on these, right now, but you only have 6 hours left. In addition, if you use the Discount Tire Credit Card, you get another 5% off.

It works out as follows:
258.96/ea Qty: 4 Price:$1,035.84 - $100 = $935.84 *.95 = $889.05 plus tax w/ free shipping.
