I've never seen 100k plugs actually go 100k without issues but maybe it's better since I got out. If you pull them in the 60-80k range, they're likely toast and how early just depends on how the vehicle was used. They still "work" when the tip is gone but the quality of combustion drops off hard.

If there's one thing my years as a smog tech taught me, it's don't fuck with major sensors and the ignition system. Factory parts, every time. Champion used to be the OEM for Mopar plugs but not sure if they still are. Leave Autolite to the Fords.
I went Champion and returned the Auto Lites.

I had to have some work done on my late 2013 JK and went ahead and changed the plugs while they were in there, 40K miles. The plug center electrode was nearly missing on the old plugs. All six of them. The Jeep ran okay before replacing. I couldn't tell any improvement after replacement. I guess I was expecting something. Seems these newer plugs can still perform when worn down.

If you get a chance take a picture of the old plugs. I would like to see it.

I'll definitely do it.:like: Mines right at 92,000 miles and when I did the JKU it had started doing something similar to what mines doing now. I noticed an improvement at idle in the jk and I'm hoping that will happen in this case.

Anyone run Autolite plugs in their JT, I ran them in my 2010 Wrangler but haven't had any expericene with them in a JT. I am assuming still ok quality. It's gonna be either those or champion, I bought the Autolite but if I hear a bunch no's I'll take them back and get the champions. Only a $15 difference in price.
I just put Autolite's in my 2020 Dodge Challenger 3.6 . They are Great . I Never liked Champions , They are Horrible, had 101 K miles . I Have a Gladiator , Make sure you get the Gasket set for the Manifold . six square donuts . about $36.00 . I am retired Mercedes Benz Master Tech. Always had to throw out the Champion Plugs and used Autolite on the V8's when we had fuel problems to fix them as they worked while Testing Fuel injectors or Fuel distributors. Out West , we had lots of heat problems
. I inspected the plugs in the Challenger and suggest Replacing them about 75K- 85K . The porcelain on the end starts to disintegrate . They were in bad shape at 101 K. But we run in higher heat here in the Desert Southwest Arizona .
I would not want those Particals causing problems in my Cyl. Head or pistons .
Have a Great Day ... !!!!

Here are a few pictures of the plugs for you and anyone else that is interested. He said they didn't look to bad. My plugs in my 2010 JKU look way worse than this at 85,000 miles when I did them. My JT has 91,700 miles on it so I'm pleased with how they look. It seems the rough idle is solved as well, time will tell on that I guess but it seemed a lot smoother when we cranked it up. I let it run for 5 minutes and no shutter.

It took him an hour and half to do it and we talked some as well and I saw the process of how it's done. More than I'd like to tackle so I feel like it was worth it to me to let someone else handle it for the price. I could of done it but probably a 5 hour job for me because I'm definitely not mechanically gifted. I can do some things but I'll leave stuff like that to the professionals.

Only a tad worse than mine were at like 47k miles when I did them. They were good enough that I kept them for long trip spares along with the Oem coils. I too was happy they looked as good as they did. But mine runs a little better after as well.

Yeah, I'm gonna hang on to coils for sure. I'll toss the plugs but I feel like the coils are probably still good enough to use if I need one on the fly. Plus it was hard to find someone with six of them, most didn't have any in stock. I had to order the ones I have from O Reilly's because when I went pick up the ones I ordered from Advance they only had 1 in stock. It was 3 days before they could get any more. O Reilly's had them to me next day for free

My thoughts exactly. All six are in the box from the new set. I bring them when I go on long trips.

These engines run so close to stoich much of the time so spark plugs shouldn't be a major issue - should look clean, very little carbon and so on.

Here's the end I care about - the electrodes, especially the center and the insulator around it -
Looks like your timing for changing them is about right. The electrodes are normal looking from my fuzzy enlargements.

That was my thoughts when seeing them. I was expecting them to look worse and was surprised at how well they looked. When I pulled them out of my 3.8 in the JKU they were trashed at 85,000 miles. Though a much easier job to do, I'd rather have something last longer honestly

Seems the tune up was exactly what I needed. I noticed a slight improvement in acceleration as well. Glad I made the call to get it done before we head out to Myrtle Beach Saturday morning. I'm hoping it improves the MPGs slightly while I'm towing the camper. I'm not expecting much but anything will be a help and I'm not saying it's a bad experience right now. It's funny how a small thing call make you appreciate what you got. I was seriously considering a Ram Rebel last Saturday and trading the JT but now that I got this done it feels like brand new vehicle again.

Those plugs were due to be changed, but really do not look bad for the mileage and about what I would expect.

Thanks for the pictures and follow up. Back in the old days spark plugs told a lot about your engine. I think we have gotten away from that some. Glad everything is putting your JT back in the normal range you expect.

Now go tow and enjoy the weekend.
