This may be a dumb question but I'm still pretty new to the Jeep world. I presently have 35s but wanna upgrade to 37s. Would it be dumb to just leave my 35inch spare for emergency? Could I limp home with 3 37s and a 35 or would I be causing damage?

Not gonna damage anything. If you look at most vehicles the spare is not the same size as the regular wheels&tires. That’s why manufacturer’s spin a “full size spare” as an upgrade.

you typically see this on passenger car where not all wheels have power being delivered or limited slip differentials.

Not true, subies and Camaros/mustangs etc. come with donuts too.

Only way you’re messing up an axle is if your gears are welded such that either side can’t independent spin. Even with an LSD this isn’t happening.

I guess if you get in your jeep on a spare and drive like Ricky Bobby you might mess something up.

This is some of the info I've gotten on the idea (not sure its accurate):

If you do need to use a smaller spare, consider putting it on the right front, and move that original (if it wasn’t the damaged tire already) to the damaged tire location. The right front tire free spins in 2wd due to the front axle disconnect. Off-road, an aired up 35 will be similar in diameter to an aired down 37.

I carry a 35 with my 37’s.
Haven’t used it yet but I see no problem. I am open front and rear when unlocked. Rubicon.

It's okay if you don't lock things up front and or rear. I have a 33 as a spare to my 35's. It's been years since I have had a flat anyway.

If you have 37 inch tires, carry a 37 inch spare.

If for some reason you had a 35 inch tire on one corner of your Jeep and 37s on the other three, you have effectively changed your gear ratios where you have the 35.
