Oh sure, rub it in...Absolutely. Many of us have. I have a 37x12.5x17 Mickey Thomson Baja boss a/t under my bed. Fully inflated. No issues.
That sucks. Sorry. If it helps, I got mine last year during a 4wp 12 days of Christmas sale. 4 for the price of three. I bought five.Oh sure, rub it in...
(I just went to order those exact tires a few days ago, and they were sold out...)
Just bought 38” Patagonia Milestar XTs (cos the Milestar II M/T are backordered for 3mths).I installed a Clayton rear track bar so I can run a 38" under the bed. No issues at all, I even ran the Rubicon trail with it there.
Thanks for sharing. Gonna research the size of MT Deegan 38” vs the Patagonia Milestar XT I purchased. You're not annoying anyone, I'm just trying to ask specifics to help your search. As far as advise, the factory location is ideal for weight distribution and leaving the bed open for other fun activities.
To answer your question though... a 37" MT Baja Boss M/T 100% fits. Please refer to the spare tire thread = https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/37”-spare-tire-list-of-tires-that-fit-under-the-bed.24091/page-18#post-873042

my spare MT Deegan 38 fits too:

Hope this helps and now you know that any possible mounting location works and you can decide on what suits your fancy![]()
Just a point of clarification, the Deegan 38 is a 37" tire. The "38" designation is just part of the brand naming. I'm not sure if a 38" tire needs to be aired completely down but I'd assume it needs to not be full. Thanks for sharing. Quick question re storing it. Did you have to air it down? Or was it able to fit fully inflated?
I’m running Milestar Patagonia's MT 38x13.50/17. After 76,000 miles I’m almost due for my third set of tires. No issues at all, just a small shiny spot on the track bar where the tire “just” touches, and I keep it inflated to 26 psi, same as the rest of the tires.Just bought 38” Patagonia Milestar XTs (the Milestar II M/T) are backordered for 3mths.
Was researching which vertical spare tire mounts to get and found this thread.
Can u let me know what 38” tire you have that you were able to mount in the spare tire location?
I might have to try it out and if it will fit partially deflated. I do have a profitable compressor for airing up after Offroading so if this solution works, I’ll be pumped.
Don’t want to drill holes in my truck bed if possible.
Factory Track Bar?I’m running Milestar Patagonia's MT 38x13.50/17. After 76,000 miles I’m almost due for my third set of tires. No issues at all, just a small shiny spot on the track bar where the tire “just” touches, and I keep it inflated to 26 psi, same as the rest of the tires.
That is absolutely fantastic news!I’m running Milestar Patagonia's MT 38x13.50/17. After 76,000 miles I’m almost due for my third set of tires. No issues at all, just a small shiny spot on the track bar where the tire “just” touches, and I keep it inflated to 26 psi, same as the rest of the tires.
no, I’m running a Clayton rear track bar. It has a small bend in the middle that gives the spare tire extra clearance. I just checked it two days ago, 76,000 miles and there isn’t any slop in the bushings. I also have a 4 1/2” Skyjacker lift and just had to replace the front track bar due to excessive play.Factory Track Bar?
I learned something new today. Stupid me assumed it was a 38” tire.Just a point of clarification, the Deegan 38 is a 37" tire. The "38" designation is just part of the brand naming. I'm not sure if a 38" tire needs to be aired completely down but I'd assume it needs to not be full.
Any reason you went with the Clayton Track Bar over the Metal Cloak Track Bar?no, I’m running a Clayton rear track bar. It has a small bend in the middle that gives the spare tire extra clearance. Probably because Clayton was the first clearanced track bar available and the only option for quite awhile.Any reason you went with the Clayton Track Bar over the Metal Cloak Track Bar?
FYI. My lift kit, skids and Diff covers are all Metal Cloak so am leaning towards sticking with Metal Cloak for the Rear Track Bar.
But happy to switch over to the Clayton if there were solid reasons u chose Clayton over Metal Cloak.
yes this, only one available two years ago.Probably because Clayton was the first clearanced track bar available and the only option for quite awhile.
