I recently bought a 3d printer and after fine tuning it I’ve found a legitimate use for it. I purchased a Kentrol license plate bracket and the mounts don’t fit due to the narrow width of the front shackle mount on my bumper. I’m test printing a custom bushing with flanges to mount it properly … I’m super excited about the endless possibilities to waste my time with.

Once you start thinking about stuff with a 3d printer, the possibilities are pretty endless, it's a lot of fun.

I just finished this bracket for my spod mount...

I'm also working on an air port using the 4xe cover..

Nice! What is the filament you’re using for that? I am also creating a mounting bracket for a battery disconnect switch. The list goes on and on…

That's ABS for the temperature tolerance.

Pretty sure the cowl part will be ASA as it will be outside.

So, this is ugly, but it works. The baofeng holder / charger is modified from a file. At some point BF changed their internals of the charger. I made the fat box on the bottom to hold the bigger board. That is connected using a custom-printed right angle mounting post. I bought a bulletpoint mounting solutions straight post and just used the ends. That is connected to a mounting post bolted in using the stock bolt on the grab handle. Again, someone online had done the hard work of designing the ball-ends.

All original files were on Thingiverse. I modified using TinkerCad. Everything was printed in ABS, and was a learning curve! You can see that the right-angle post didn't fully print, but it still works.

I like the radio there because it is close to hand but doesn't block my view.

You should get the hold down bracket for the hard top T tops that mount to the roll bar in back and windshield frame. When we bought our Jeep they were missing I went to the local dealership and ordered them 3 were plastic one is cast aluminum, they were $415.00 with the mounting screws. Was going to have a friend 3d print some from a buddies gladiator but was worried about strength.

Haha, I was thinking of starting the same thread eventually. "What did you 3d Print for your Gladiator today?" To keep a full list and ideas coming.

Unfortunately, I don't design, so can only print what others provide. But there's a good collection of possibilities from mounts and clips, organizers and storage, replacement parts, and maybe even some new unique items.

I was looking at them the other day and thinking about how I could scan them to create an STL file…

I’ve been messing around with tinkercad (free to use). It’s pretty self explanatory and fairly easy to pick up.

No - I’ve been messing around with my phone and I haven’t found any software that can generate a concise object…

Use any scan software to copy existing dimensions?

I juuuuust got started in Tinkercad myself, was ordering some sliding curtain hooks for v-channel aluminum extrusion for home, and they didn't ship...so I decided to find something on thingiverse. It sort-of had what I needed, so I pulled it into tinkercad, and fixed it a little...then got another idea, and fixed it a little more... and before you know it, I had figured out how to design in tinkercad (full disclosure: I am terrible at art, but get some budget calipers for precise measurements of holes and spaces etc). The iphone app store has a lot of 3D scanner apps, and some make use of the LIDAR range finder on pro.

I don't have any Gladiator parts made just yet, but I'll probably use PETG, as it's my preferred filament for heat resistance without toxic fumes; now to figure out what to make...

Anybody interested in making some custom wheel center caps? Also custom horn/steering wheel center cover?

I have made a battery disconnect bracket for the HF badlands winch next to the battery. Two piece brackets for the ABS and braided stainless brake lines. Also have printed rear bumpstop spacers that bolt to the axle plates. All printed in ABS for temp resistance. Made brackets for rocklights and module also. The possibilities are endless.

I use the free hobbyist version of Fusion 360 for my design purposes. Learned using YouTube videos for CAD.
