Ordering tires. There are a lot of variables with 40’s. Rubicon fenders, non rubicon fenders, fender liners/no liners, axle widths, suspension lift size, bump stop height, wheel specs (widths, diameters, backspacing….)

In an attempt for others to come together- and for folks to drop photos ?…

can those that have already made the plunge to 40’s post a photo and details. Details to include: heigh, wheel specs (backspacing & width….) and any additional bits that are relevant to your build/photo.

Thanks in advance: Motobilt Jeep on 42’s for inspiration.

My decisions so far-
Tires- pat’s mt02’s
Wheels- on the hunt, would like to be no more than 4.5” bs……
Sticking low with 3” and split liners. Probably around 2-2.25” bump…… will see once things arrive.
Rcv front axles with an apex truss. Eventually a psc kit for steering.

Not really looking for a conversation thread- just a quick one stop shop for those on 40’s, going to 40’s, dreaming about 40’s ??

Great idea!

What are you doing for fenders and axles?
You will have very limited up travel with stock fenders on 40s w/ a 3" lift.

I’ll join the party…

- 4.5” evo huh springs
- teraflex long arms
- Fox 2.5 dsc (upgrading soon)
- 39 ko2 (42 Baja boss when it’s released)
- teraflex 70” 60/70 axles
- Motobilt highline fenders
- Kmc grenade crawl 3.5 backspacing/-38 offset
- synergy track bar
- rockjock antirock f/r
-Adam’s 1350 f/r

genuinely curious for those running 40s on stock axles, do you plan on going to tons, do you not wheel hard, do you think they are sufficient, etc?

Do you feel like new axles for the bfg ko2s was necessary given pretty light and not true 39”?

70” wide axle and 3.5” BS. The motobilt fenders make it look even wider haha. I haven’t measured that yet and I have a different set of wheels/tires on for winter driving that have less backspacing.

4.5” RockKrawler

Which Rock Krawler kit? And spacers because they were needed or ?
Would you do it differently if you were to do it again?

This is a thread that needs to keep going, lol. Anyone running 40s on sport axles with 4.5" backspacing? I'm totally prepared to go 3.5" BS, but would prefer not to push the wheels out any further than I have to.
