So Ive been running BFG KM3 39 x 13.5’s and actually drove them from New England to Wyoming last fall. Decided I am going to run 37’s for the cross country stuff so I picked up some 40 x 12.5 r17 Toyo RT Pros for around town/local trails. Couldnt be happier with the new shoes

Thank you and No balance….feel better than my 39’s did and thats not to suggest I had issues with the BFG’s. Smooth, no shimmy, vibration or noise.

Yeah its crazy how much these things swallow up 40’s with minimal effort.

How tall do they measure vs. the BFGs? I’m running 39 BFGs now and want a set of those Toyos. I noted the 40x12.50 when they were announced. How’s the road noise vs the KM3? Had them on snow yet?

Well I can tell you that the BFG’s were set to 37.76 inches on 8.5” rims with the Tazer to get my speedo lined up with my GPS. I just put the 40’s on 9” rims and they are at 39.00 on the button for the Tazer and the speedo is lined up yet again. Side by side they would be consistent with what the Tazer is responding too (about 1 1/4”) As far as noise, they are less than the KM3’s (almost non existent really) and we just got blasted with snow here in New England today and I had zero issues in it. Pic with black rims are the 39’s

I am not experiencing any of those issues. It is a pleasure to drive actually. With the BFG’s it felt like it was starting to get a little squirrely the last 1000 miles or so. There was nothing wrong per se but I had recently taken them on a 4500 mile cruise to the Badlands. So I made the decision to run (2) sets of wheels. I have always wanted 40’s and these seemed to be the perfect size (12.5) and I bought e rated 37’s for the long range stuff with the spare sitting under the bed. The suggestion was made to not balance the 40’s so I did not, no regrets

Been looking at the Toyo 40/42s. Can't find much of a review on them on the interwebs. Thank you for the feedback.

Ran KM3 39s out and back to the Rubicon with a full loaded JT. Can't say I loved them, but can't say I don't. The only complaint I have is wet traction and cornering. Plain and simple they suck at those two areas. Only reason I went this route was the longevity of the BFG off road tires. Working on 35k miles and still have 60% tread left. Looking at a long trip next year and new tires, the RT Pros just made the top of the list.

Cheers
