Thank you and No balance….feel better than my 39’s did and thats not to suggest I had issues with the BFG’s. Smooth, no shimmy, vibration or noise.

Can also concur, my 42 MT's didn't require balancing either.. Discount put beads in them at the beginning. .Bad idea, I had them removed after the shakes wouldn't spin out to find out they didn't need any to begin with. Toyo will almost always get my money until I want something bigger, as a 42" tire can run at 94mph without shaking and zero balancing is amazing!

Ditto.

What gears? I'm on 37s with 4.88s. They've been great! Wondering if my tranny will shift into 8th on 40s.
I am on 40's with 5.13's, I hit 8th but only under very light loads. But it is a big heavy Jeep coming in at 6600#.

My 40’s shake a bit between 50 and 60. Smooth as they can be everywhere else. I’m in Texas though and our speed limits are either 45 in the city or you better be doing 80 everywhere else so I can live with it.

So no king pins, its a hybrid 60 but I am running Dynatrac ball joints and Reid Racing outers with RCV axles. I wanted a durable set up but I should have dropped the extra 3k and gone with manual lockouts. Didnt realize the limitations until I started taking long trips. I might switch over to Superduty inner c’s and go the full treatment

Currie makes some great hybrid axles , but I just cant bring myself to peel out the cash for em...even though I would give away just about anything for including my wife....ha just kidding Id throw her in for free . I don't really want to pay for 40's or 42's anyway. I am going to move up to 37's which I think will get me over most of what I want to get over. Great looking axles though.

I did them because I was regearing and started thinking about where I want to go. Retiring at the end of the year and this truck is my retirement plan. Looking to take it up the Dempster Highway (amongst other places) which around 13,000 miles round trip and didnt want things to fail. Not looking for rock crawling per se but durability. I was in a unique position to be able to swing it so I did but alas took a little bit of a conservative approach I guess. Like I noted, will downsize to an E rated 37”, bring a spare or two and go for a rip. Bought the Fusions right before they blew up and got really popular but far enough into their progression that they offered the high clearance front and rear diffs. 40 spline rears and RCV fronts, I figured it was more than I needed or at least I hope. The 40’s are more fanciful than anything but kinda liked the idea of them.

What really did it for me is a buddy of mine bought the RT Pros, albeit smaller and loves them. From a value perspective they are about $300 a tire less than I paid for the BFG’s. So ill sell those off and recoup some of the cost. The more I travel in it, I start to realize what I actually need and want. Sure their are different platforms to build upon but this thing puts a smile on my face and the more ive come to rely on it, it has given me a new perspective.

So Ive been running BFG KM3 39 x 13.5’s and actually drove them from New England to Wyoming last fall. Decided I am going to run 37’s for the cross country stuff so I picked up some 40 x 12.5 r17 Toyo RT Pros for around town/local trails. Couldnt be happier with the new shoes

I have never heard of not balancing tires. Is this just because they are 40s or can you not balance 37s and 38s?

They can be balanced. By running them unbalanced one can see how true they are from the manufacturer. I usually run my new tires unbalanced at first because I run them bead locked and mount them at home. I also like to see how true they run to judge their quality. At first sign of a shimmy I get them balanced and decide what position on Jeep to assign them based on the amount of weight they took.
