We've got it in a 3 inch lifted Sahara on 37s and we get 21ish all electric mpg around town.

But what do you get on the highway after the battery is depleted at 80mph

Same as my gladiator, 15-16, but when I put the foot down it still goes like a V8.

I’ve had my 4XE wrangler for a year now. I get 18-20mpg on trips after the battery hits <0% (really its at 20%) when I’m driving 65 and under. higher speeds hurt the mileage a lot but that’s any jeep. I drive to work and home every day on electric only most days depending on which route I take and side trips. I’m very satisfied with it.

I‘m interested in a 4XE JT if they become available and have a few upgrades over my 22. i Like the 24 model‘s changes to enable faster charging in E-save mode, the ability to get AC power from the charge port and the interior upgrades. I would like to see increased battery capacity (not likely, but 30-40 miles of electric range would be great) and an increase in fuel capacity (17 gallons sucks since I usually stop for gas at half tank).

oh, and for the love of God, a real payload instead of 850 lbs!

My wife has a Wrangler 4XE Rubicon and I would absolutely love to have her powertrain in my Gladiator Rubicon. Like everyone has said, it is amazing for around town, she actually uses so little gas that it kicks into Fuel Oil Refresh Mode and forces her to burn some from time to time. The instant torque you get makes it a blast to drive.

We've experimented putting it in e-save mode on the way to the trail a few times and were surprised by how long we were able to use the battery only when you are driving slowly through moderate trails. I really never though about how short of a distance we actually travel on some of our longer (time wise) rides before getting the 4XE.

Her 4XE is still stock, so I can't comment on how larger tires/lift etc. will impact it.

Don't feel so bad. My JTRD only has a payload of 899 lbs and it's a truck. I moved from a Wrangler to a Gladiaitor so I could well....carry more things.

Nope. Just a hardtop with every option minus advanced safety group and ACC/Advanced Collison Warning.

The HP/TQ "specs" on a gladiator 3.6l Pentastar are super UNIMPRESSIVE, yet the truck seems to move adequately for the lack of "power". I've never thought once the truck can't get out of it's own way - and I have 37's. (exclude towing, I don't tow with my Gladiator) Could it use more power? YES!!! Do I think Jeep needs to step up and offer more power/better engine options? YES!!!

The power of the 4xe are impressive and I have yet to drive one. A couple people here made some good points that the 4xe would probably NOT be good in a Gladiator, especially when we add alot of weight, larger tires, etc..... until they have some major advancements in battery power.

One thing that is strange to me is the 4xe can only go like 21 miles on pure charge which is better than zero, but doesn't really seem useful. The additional power seems great, but I'm super unimpressed with the low mpg for a electric/hybrid (not sure what it is) for like almost $20K more for the 4xe, Im not seeing the benefit except the power.

That kinda depends on where you live. The ski resort is 16 miles from my house, all my shopping is less than 5 miles away. I wouldn't need to use fuel for like 90% of my trips with a 4xe.

Correct, they went for the lowest bar possible so to speak as it covers the majority of trips. According to the Department of Energy 60% of household vehicles travel less then 6 miles per trip and jumps to 75% for trips within 10 miles. Obviously, the data is skewed towards cities and suburbs, but for most it does work out.

Payload will surely be decreased. That and towing is a big issue for the JT version.

Some of that is the byproduct of the size of battery they could stash inside the vehicle.

Of course ours is in the shop with P0303 which seems like a bad injector

No way am I ready to go full electric with a truck - not a chance. Not until they have a whole lot better range per charge. I want to be able to drive 1,000 miles on a charge.
Until then, it's hybrid.

I was not ready to go full electric until I did. The 250 mi range of my Lightning is adequate for me about 98% of the time. On longer trips, we take one of our ICE vehicles. I do not know how long I will keep the truck, but coming up on one year of ownership and it has served its purpose.

For the owners that use the electric vehicles on long trips, the main draw back is the time it takes to charge on a fast charger and the availability of chargers. I would not be so concerned about a longer range, just a shorter amount of time to charge.

My neighbor has a 4XE Wrangler Willys and a JT Willys and he likes the 4XE enough that he says he would trade the JT for a 4XE JT if they make one. He keeps telling me I need to go for a ride or drive in it but its always in need of a charge so IDK

Ford's CEO was recently talking about how they are losing billions selling their EVs right now, but they are going to cut pricing anyways. This is because all their research has shown that once people go EV, they don't go back. So, Ford is trying to gain customers and market share at a loss, so they can profit off selling EV drivers their second vehicle down the road when they are cheaper to manufacture.
