5.13 on stock tires

In anticipation of my 37" tires and wheel upgrade I had my gears switched to 5.13.

I was curios about the impact on driving with stock tires. I am not sure if I have noticed anything specific other than slightly higher RPM. Should acceleration be any different on stock tires.

Your acceleration should feel stronger. Probably drop about 1/2 second 0-60.

Now to be serious, you have at least 25% more torque multiplication than stock. That’s if you came from 4.10. 38% more if you’re coming from 3.73. A big change with no tire size change. It should be pretty peppy.

On a good hookup possible twisting/ snapping axle shafts off and u-joints. What gears did it have 3:73 it's a big jump to 5:13. I hope you don't need to drive over 45 mph much before new tires. Your able to pull a house right now. You could probably embarrass most full size truck owners pulling something.

It feels little preppy and it seems like to go through gears more quickly.

I wish I would have done 0-60 times to see the difference.

I went from 4.10 to 5.13. It's the damn Mickey Thompson's fault. The Baja Boss ATs are backordered for another 2 months.

So you have upped your RPMs about 26% from stock. Hwy speeds will probably stink gas and wear on engine, transmission axles will be running hotter so watch it on break in cycles too.

What is the best way to know if the shop really did the gear work. I just don’t feel that much of a difference. They put a tazer on saying that without it, the car will go in limp mode.

How fast are you going at say, 2000 rpm in a specific gear (speed over gps on your phone)? Might be harder to tell if you're auto that in case the torque converter is slipping.

Other way you could tell is jack the truck up and spin a back tire, count the ratio of driveshaft rotations to tire rotations. And look if it's about 4 or about 5.

You can use the Grimm Jeeper to help calculate what the RPM should be for stock and modified, then compare. If you have 5.13’s with 33’s right now, your RPM will likely be way over 2k at 65 MPH. With the 4.10’s it would likely be under 2K.

Log your RPM in 6th gear at 60 or 70 mph. Use 6th cause that’s your 1:1 gear so you won’t have to factor in the transmission.

Do a brake stand with your stock tires and smoke them off the rim. Take vid, post here.
love my 5.13 with my 37’s,didn’t get a chance to try them with my stock 32’s.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will look into them.

The other thing that got me is that they said a differential oil change is not necessary but when I was looking into regearing, everyone mentioned that the oil will need to be replaced after the break in period.
