Hi all. Can anyone tell me if the Alpine factory amp can drive 6x9 speakers in the sound bar, or would I need another amp?

Thanks!

Can it? Yes. Is it optimal? Not really. I upgraded all of my speakers fairly early on, but never properly amplified them. They may have sounded marginally better, but I was never really blown away by it.

I finally got around to installing a 5-channel amp + sub, and the improvement on the speakers was night and day.

I did the MB Quart 6X9 kit in my 25 Rubi and the radio can drive those, but the speakers are terrible. Had to add tweeters to get decent sound (drilled out the light holes by the speakers) Since I traded to the Joose, I went with the 6.5 upgrade with DS18 pros...... Night and day difference from the MB Quarts. I also added DS18 tweeters to the fold as well. The Alpine can push em, but dont look for ground shaking results.

THIS is the solution. Much appreciated.

Speaker upgrades deserve the right amp to push them.

The factory amp is low power and 2 ohms. Not enough to push aftermarket speakers well.

I have 6X9 speakers in the sound bar and you must wire them correctly as the factory 4" speakers in the sound bar are crossed over and only play mid to low sounds. The 3.5" factory sound bar speakers play mid to high sounds. I was able to wire the woofers of the 6X9 speaker separate from the tweeters, and all sounds good, but the factory amp will only get so loud. You can always upgrade the amp later if it is needed.

I had my 6X9s (and currently the 6.5s) wired to the 4" speaker harness... I also added tweeters
wired to the 3.5" speaker harness. Adding the tweeters made a big difference in sound quality. The MB Quart 6X9s that come with the kit are mid level at best. I think if you were to swap a quality pair of 6X9s on to the adapters, it would probably enhance your listening experience.

Did the audio uprising in the dash, reveresd the polarity to match the other speakers.

Then did the alpine 6.5 with the tweeters, ran the tweeters and the crossover to the smaller soundbar speaker slot, the 6..5 to the bigger spot (had to cut and use a bracket)

it's 1000x better but its not overly loud.
