I am really upset with the 97mph limit. In Germany it can be dangerous to get in the fast lane at such slow speeds. My 92 YJ has an LS swap and runs 210kmh (130mph) all day long. It is lifted 4" and has 37" tires. Was it wobbly? Hell yes. After a lot of suspension work it smoothed out. When I moved from Germany to Texas I realized that you have insanely low speed limits but 80 mph limits just means that I keep it below 110. When DPS is not around, the sky is the limit. I've had my BMW S1000RR up to 185mph here. I do not do this when ANY traffic is around. I'm rambling so I'll shut up.
How do I remove this 97mph millstone from my neck?

Dunno, but I feel like this is the same as expecting a Viper to get up a mountain to a cabin in the woods.

If I want to go fast..I'll drive my SRT..never felt the need to go faster than the posted speed limit in any of my jeeps.

I was hoping this was sarcastic but... having driven the autobahn a number of times you would be the dangerous one on the autobahn even getting near the fast lane in a Gladiator regardless of the speed limiter.
When you have a Bimmer or Porsche bearing down on you at 225++kph it doesn't matter if the JT is limited to 156 or hits its "natural" limit at 170.

This can't be right for all JT's. Heading to work about a week ago I have two options for exits here in Durham, NC. I chose the first exit and traffic is always a B there so I hammered it. My speedometer said 99 mph and I let off once I found a good position to exit. No one needs to go 100 in most vehicles, but I was over 97. Visiting the autobahn is always a good time, sadly I don't travel there anymore with my new company. We'd be getting lapped in Germany but we are just fine here!

Edit: This post is right up there with the mpg thread(s). You purchased a Jeep, you ought to know what you're getting. Dork in the video immediately went inside, played some cool video games, spent the next few hours on Facebook and didn't get laid. I wonder if the guys/gals on the Porsche forums are bitching about the ground clearance and off road ability of their new Panameras?!?!?

Not that I drive above 97 on a regular basis but if you lived in West Texas and needed to pass slow moving semi trucks on a 2 lane around here with oil field traffic that we have you have to get around that vehicle and get back in your lane as soon as possible. I have driven both of my other Jeeps over 100 more than once and if everything is good working order this is not an issue. And yes I have hit the 97mph limiter already a couple of times. I routinely travel back and forth from Midland to Dallas and the idiots out there on their phones or just not paying attention, every once in awhile you just have to get past them and if you are already running 80mph, 97 is not far away. Just one of the things I miss not having my BMW, may have to get another one for travel and just keep the Jeeps for fun off-road.

Not that I plan to go 100 very often, but it kind of sucks that it can't.

Yikes! May want to look into the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk top speed of 180 mph and has the word Jeep on it.

The end of that article is talking about that 1000 hp engine mod saying its 1000 hp (1600kW)... uh what? 1 hp is roughly .75kw, how the hell did they screw that up?
Must be those Canadian kilowatts....

if 97 MPH is not fast enough, trade for a Sport or Overland---top speed for those trims is limited to 110 mph.

I've been seeing the following on dealer listings hidden within the other "features"

"97 MPH Maximum Speed Calibration"
