A soft top has been confirmed, but we haven’t seen any mules, spy shots, or renders of one. I’m starting to worry that Sergio’s ‘soft-top’ is actually going to be the $4,000 sunroof they’re calling Sky One Touch. And frankly, that would really suck.

I want a real ragtop, a Jeep on I can pull off and hang in my garage.

And I want a folding windshield. And a pony. Yeah, I really want a pony.

The wording on the tops is a bit convoluted to say the least. They mentioned a fully removable soft top and then a traditional hardtop with removal panels. That could be interpreted a few ways as in are they referring to a traditional pickup with added ability to remove the roof panels, or a traditional Jeep Wrangler style hardtop that is fully removable. I don't anticipate them going down the road of a full fixed roof on the truck but to instead follow the traditional Wrangler design with a JL style three piece hardtop (color matched/base black) and a full soft top. Someone else on the forum mentioned the folding soft top issues with a truck and just being fully removable instead which is a likely design option, but not sure how appealing that would be to have to remove it entirely to take the top down. Personally I am aiming for the color matched three piece hardtop for security reasons living in shady Florida where soft top Jeeps are a target for thieves. Ask me how I know...

YeH, I’ve gone back and re-read everything I could about the soft top, and you’re right - it isn’t all super specific, but it does seem to indicate we are getting a real soft-top and not just a glorified sunroof. One of the leaks even shows it as a sunrider, which is about as clear as you can get.

Malaise over - carry on!

Only concern is that I've yet to see a test mule with a soft top....

Where there JL test mules with soft tops on? Not that I recall, but I wasn’t following the forums at that time either.

That's what I was trying to say... I'm curious to see a test mule with a soft top...even something covered in camo, just to let us know that the soft top is in fact on the way.

Im pretty sure the JL test mules didn't have the soft top till the more production ready (sticker camo) versions came out. I could be wrong though.

I doubt we see anything until the new assembly line is completed.

The kids school is right next to the local Jeep Dealer.. they were unloading a JL Unlimited soft top so I spent some time checking it out. I was blown away at what an improvement this is over the past models. It's like going from a bi-plane to an F35... Fit finish, the way it closes up... the quality of the material.. everything. Can't wait to see how it looks on a scrambler.
