I’m going to be buying my first JT (had an old YJ in college and loved it) and am making my shopping list. I love the look of Black Rhino product and plan to fit them into the Rubicon trim level. The offset I am finding for the 17x9.5” is -18. How much poke will that likely induce with MT Baja Boss AT’s at 315/70/17? Will I need a level on a stock Rubicon? If yes, how much to achieve and leave enough rake for when I add the Harker Camper Tent setup? What components will this offset likely strain first so I can plan to replace on a shortened timeline? Any other comments are welcome. My use case is daily driver, hunting rig, family trips to the mountains, boondocking’ish when traveling. Thank you.

that -18 offset with the 315s will stick out a bit, maybe 1-2 inches. A 2-2.5" level should work to clear everything and still keep some rake for the tent. The suspension might wear out a bit quicker, especially control arms and steering, but nothing too crazy.

Thank you! Any brands for the level folks would recommend? I have full suspension and steering picked out, but don’t expect to do that for a year or two. Wanted to get on the trail and decide what my needs will actually be and get some use out of the factory parts.

-18 will stick out a little more than 1-2".

I have +6 and 12.50 wide tires and mine are about 2" past the flare.

Oh man. I’ll have to look at the offset calculator today. I’m fine with a little poke, but don’t want to go too far. I appreciate the image to show it as well. Thank you.

There are areas of my life where that is about right, but in this instance I’d like a little less to poke with, so to speak.
Hahaha, I gotcha. Ya, those specs are not ideal for a jeep. Most run 17x8.5 or 17x9 at the most. I have a set on the way that are 17x8.5 and should sit about flush with the fender.

Here is my JTRD with a Mopar 2 inch lift with 37 x 12.5 x 17 tires on TeraFlex Nomad wheels with 0 offset. Plus the Harker Camper.
