Random, but I really do appreciate the AC in the Gladiator. I feel it is stronger and gets cooler than many other vehicles I have driven. I'm not sure if having a color matched hardtop and gray/white seats make a difference, but the fan in these things are great. It is a hot one today, stay hydrated!

I agree. In my JKU I used to just keep it full blast at all times and it could barely keep up. That said, my old Jeep didn't have carpet so the floor was always hot. Now I just keep it to 67-69 degrees and it barely blows and maintains cabin temp no problem. But I also have my windows (including windshield) tinted with ceramic and it rejects 98% of the heat. Paired with Hotheads is a complete game changer.

Here is a good demonstration on just how good quality ceramic tint is at blocking heat.

I may look into that - although, I probably will not do my windshield due to state laws. I did get a sun reflector screen though.

I went with 70% on my windshield. Not one person so far was able to tell it's tinted unless I tell them. I also wanted to be able to actually see at night. 70% isn't enough to really make any difference visibility wise, but it will stop heat..

They began to use a new refrigerant in the A/C system starting with the introduction of the JL in 2018.
It does produce colder air output than the previous R135a & is quite a bit more expensive when you need a re-charge, or work done to the system as well.

I am mostly happy with the AC in the JT, except for when on the trails or in certain conditions when it doesn't seem to keep up or properly regulate temps.

Day to day though, I can't complain. It is a lot better than my VW was, but still the best cold AC I have experienced is in GM 2500/3500s with the duramax.

Yea it's the little things. My Cherokee I smashed the front end and never repaired the AC, then my JKU I inherited from my wife after she became perganant, the AC was acceptable but the heat wouldn't come out the driver side floor. It's nice having a new vehicle with so many creature comforts. too bad I went Sport S to try to save on other things. Now I see adaptive cruise is coming standard on Sport S. I'm jelly.

Auto makers made a non-binding agreement with the government to add certain safety features to ALL vehicles. Prior to covid and supply issues, it was to have been in place around the end of 2021 if I recall correctly. Never happened with Jeep. Heck, you couldn't get such things if you wanted them.
Maybe they've gotten beyond the supply constraints and are now complying with their original agreement to add FCW, active braking and ACC.

We've never had an issue with Jeep AC in any of our Jeeps. It's better in the past 3 or 4 than it was in the past - it gets there and keeps up so easily, but it's been good over the years anyway.
Black does absorb more "heat" than other colors - scientific fact.

Except when mine decides to randomly go into some sort of "outside air refresh mode". Cruising along in SE Alabama (heat + humidity) with the AC doing its thing...then, for some reason, it decides to open outside air directly into the cabin through the floor vents. Takes my nice cool, comfortable environment, and turns it into a cool, wet, environment for about 30 seconds. Then all goes back to normal. I only seem to experience this when I'm on a lengthy road trip.

Mine is a '20, so not sure if the software was updated to prevent this, but there were numerous threads about this early on.

You likely missed the talk abut the TSB 2 years ago that addresses this.
Yes, it only happened when on a lengthy road trip. I never experienced it with my 2020 until we took it to Colorado Springs and back. It was hot and on the way back after several hours of driving, I noticed it did it - I was in the passenger seat while my wife was driving so I can't say if it ever happened on any other trips, she never said.

Thanks! I remembered reading the threads but never saw the TSB. Appreciate it!
living in deep south texas, the quickest fix to geet my jeep to stop doing this was to unplug the blend door. It's easily accessed from behind the glovebox and fully reversible. I've read the TSB still allows that warm air blast but its for a much shorter time. Cannot confirm that though as mine doesn't do it ever. :)
