Access hole in tailgate lets in crud

Do all Gladiators have this hole in the tailgate where the wire harness enters? I wish they would have put a cap over it to keep junk out. My tailgate has dirt, rocks, and mulch in it from doing yard work--I can hear it rattle around every time I open and close the tailgate, and when I open or close it in the garage, some dirt/rocks/mulch falls out onto my garage floor.

I have the same problem. I washed out a bag of cement that broke and now the tail gate is full of small rocks. Ive spent hours trying to wash them out but have still not been successful

wow...never even considered this being a problem. I wonder if there is a way to make a cheap home made plug of some sort.

If any one has the chance and can measure the hole for me I can do a mess of searching while im at work and maybe find something. I just cant get out to the truck to measure it my self :-/

I wonder if there is a way to make a cheap home made plug of some sort.

The oval hole looks similar to holes in bottom of bed. My Dakota has two different sizes of oval holes. If by some struck of luck the tailgate hole is same size as the plastic plugs made for this truck (or any other pickup, for that matter), then one could be adapted by cutting a hole for the cable. Put some black silicone caulk around the cable.

I took off the inspection plate and washed out all of the weep holes.
it is a quick fix until there’s a better option.

I used this to cover the hole. You have to trim it a little so the cable fits, but it works great.
