Sharp looking Defender, a buddy has one and does most of the maintenance work himself which hasn't been much. No horror stories, it's incredible to ride in. Despite not having any issues with it he's dead set on moving it for an Ineos Grenadier which should be available later this year. I don't blame him but not because the Defender is bad, the Grenadier is just that incredible. If you're unaware of the Grenadier and haven't inked the Defender, do have a gander. It's pretty much a bullet-proof legacy defender with just enough modern amenities to make it usable as a DD today with a reasonable price-point. That B58 inline 6 turbo in the gas variant is incredible.

Definitely will be on my radar now!! Dammit! Main reason for the Defender allure is the towing (for me), so we shall see how the Grendadier stacks up…

As a person who has personally owned and daily driven 4 previous Land Rover vehicles... The company now is not like the Land Rovers of old. Back in 2008 when the parent company Tata from India purchased them from Ford everything changed.

If you have never owned a Land Rover before or, if you didn't do a lot of research before your purchase, you might be in for a MEGA shock when you need to take it in for things that need service or repairs. Did they assign you a service advisor? Give him / her a call in a few days and ask what is the expected life span on the brakes and rotors is... and what is the cost to replace them.

Don't be shocked when you need both at only 20-25k miles. (one of mine needed it after only 17,000 miles) Not sure if your oil service is at 7500 or 10000 miles but... That right, by your second or third oil change you will be getting a call from that service advisor saying you need both brake items replaced at all four wheels. COST... Over $3k...

You read that right... if you drive over 25.000 miles a year you will need a $3k brake job every year.

Other services.... Minor oil change service $500... Major service with oil, radiator, axles, fluids, ETC.... $1900... Problems with the air suspension $2-3k per corner... Catastrophic engine failure.... $26k I could go on and on.... but you will soon know the price you pay for buying any new Land Rover product... Good luck!
As long as I’m not giving Stellantis anymore money I’ll embrace the suck ;)

Congrats on the 90, I have one on order also - should get delivered in late June, keeping it as basic as possible, coil springs - steel wheels - no sunroof.

We recently sold our Grand Wagoneer as it was pretty much a lemon, got a GX460 instead as our main family vehicle.

I love my Jeeps, but the dealership network especially in the PacNW is really bad. I had a nightmare time with our Grand Wagoneer.

I grew up in a family that loved old school Defenders. I learnt to drive in a 90. The new ones just look like every other fat suv out there. Give me a brick with no airbags :CWL: In all honesty though, the new ones are a great place to sit. I’d take one on a road trip over a Gladiator

I’m thinking you will love it! Did you get the P400? If you did , the power and torque is next level!

Hope you don't keep your rigs long and if you plan on keeping this you better have bought the extended service contract. Just sayin.

Yikes... Land Rover... one of the few brands that make Jeeps look insanely reliable. Good luck, man. I suspect you'll be back soon.

@Jackpaul Hows the width on the Defender? Meaning does it feel bloated? I've liked the new 110 for my needs, but I've only driven Wranglers & Glad so worried about driving a "yacht" that is too wide

Little wider, but not by much….visibility and handling are improved so it’s not noticeable. I honestly was surprised to learn that it is wider, I took it on the same trails that used to be challenging for my gladiator, and the 90 made it look easy the tight fits did not seem so cumbersome. The 110 is noticeably bigger (longer) , but again due to design does not feel like it…it is really a different type of off road (and on road) experience

I have a good friend with a Defender like that, on the highway it really is wonderful! We went out for a little trail ride and wow the flex!! Like maybe 2 inches of down travel :-( His wife was trying to convince him to lift it, so much $$$. As for reliability there have been no issues in 2yrs.

Just get some portals and 38's and it can follow a stock JT. They ride nice on the freeway so keep it there. Kind of reminds me of a Bronco. Anyway,, good luck.

Not trying to rain on your parade and hope it works out for you. I only parrot what I have seen and heard on them and it makes the warts on the Gladiator and Wrangler not look all that bad in comparison.

TFL awhile back bought a 4 door version and it was nothing but trouble for them and repair parts were almost non existent and having to wait for something to be built and shipped from the UK.
Was that when they popped 2 tires on the same spot?? I remember that
