I bought a pair of used leather Rubicon seats from a JL with the driver seat side airbag deployed. Got a new airbag replacement and had the seat stitched up and looks brand new.

I swapped them into my Sport and plugged in the large black connector as well as the yellow connectors and everything plugged no problem.

I turn on the jeep and and now I get a “service airbag” message and light now. Is there something I need to do to clear the code or reset the system? I logged into my jscan, cleared the code but the message keeps popping up.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

first step is put your original seats back in and see if the light goes off. let's assume it will because that's a safe assumption.

next step is only swap passenger seat and see if the light stays off. Again let's assume that's correct because the expectation is that the driver's side is the problem due to the previous deployment.

Assuming all the above went fine, you've now isolated your issue. The rest from here depends on your electrical competency. But assuming you're familiar with the basics, I'd start poking around the new driver's seat with a multimeter set to ohms looking for continuity issues.

It's possible that the wiring in the seat was damaged and needs repaired or replaced.

It's also possible the replacement airbag is defective.

Thanks for all the replies. I swapped in my original seat and still have the service airbag light still on.

The codes I got were:

B223D-00 - ocm dtc present
U115F - lost communication with driver presence detection module

I forgot to disconnect the negative from the main battery before I swapped seats. Currently I unhooked the negative and letting everything reset after 15 min.

I will report back.

The OP should definitely check for damage. I took out my seats once to do a thorough vacuum and pulled one of the wires.

Update: I tightened the connectors and no longer getting a lost communication error. These are the 2 errors I get now on the bottom of the picture.
