I tried searching and also went to their site (https://www.alfaobd.com/ ) but I was confused as to what I actually need to buy…

1. What adapters, cables, dongles, etc. do I need to buy to be able to use AlfaOBD with my Gladiator?

2. Those that have a working setup for your Gladiator, what was the total cost, including the AlfaOBD?

3. Wanted to add, I have a notebook (running MS Windows) that I use with other readers for my other vehicles). Best to use that as well for AlfaOBD or an Android tablet? I have a tablet as well that I was using when I had the Colorado with the Torque software…

3. Does it support 2022 Gladiators? Latest release is 2.3.0.0

I believe that I have a GPEC5 module if I not mistaken... here is what the module looks like under the hood:

Went ahead and sent an email to [email protected] asking if the software worked with my 2022 Jeep Gladiator, if Windows or Adroid was better for their software, and what additional hardware was needed.

Got a reply. Sharing in case others have a similar question

“Hello,

You can use any app version, Android or Windows, whatever is more convenient to you. The app versions have same functionality.

As the hardware, you'll need a good OBD interface. I'd suggest the OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth or OBDLink EX USB, again, whatever is more convenient.

Additionally you'll need an SGW bypass like https://www.kaodtech.com/product-page/security-module-bypass or https://ecri.app/products/ecri-security-module-bypass-2018-jeep-ram

Regards,
Alexey Chernikov

I would also recommend you get the Security Gateway Extension Cable from ZAutomotive (Tazer). Your hands will really appreciate it.

I've yet to try the VERY latest version, but the version just before this one didn't catch all of the information from my 2022 that it caught on my 2020 when I had it. It was like it couldn't fully retrieve everything even when I told it to ignore and not verify the ECUs.

Note that if you buy the Android version, then you also want the Windows version, it costs extra for that, but you get a discount if you already have the other version.
I truly hope to find the latest has full 2022 support.

I last spoke with Elexey at AlfaOBD via email back on Feb 3, and it sounds like he will be working on an update for our 22 JTs very soon. I'll paste his reply below.

Hi David,

Sorry I didn’t add the Gladiator support yet, there are mostly updates for the Italian cars there. Now I can focus on Gladiator ?

Regards,
Alexey

Why? That is why I asked if one was better than the other...

I was planning on getting the Windows version anyway. I have a notebook that I have dedicated to the garage. It has the Durametric software that I use for Porsche, the Dealer Tool for Triumph motorcycles, GS911 Diagnostic Tool for BMW motorcycles, CAD software, MACH4 software to control the small CNC milling machine that I put together, etc... So many diagnostic tools.... the others that I have work with my iPhone... I have an old iPhone that I dedicate to those (Carly for BMW cars, AUTEL for Mercedes Sprinters)... and then the generic OBD readers. Oh, I also have one of those OTC Genisys EVO OBD II kits that a friend gave me when he had to close down a couple of Midas... but that one requires a license and I never bought it, so it just sits in its case in the garage...

The android table that I have used to be for the Torque application that I used on the Chevy Colorado ZR2... That one I can still use it if needed, but kind of dedicated that as a DRO for the small metal lathe...

It's in shat you prefer and what you have for hardware. My laptop is big and just not great to use while driving or even just sitting. It's got to sit on the passenger seat. Unsafe. My tablet or phone are harder to see but easier in a vehicle.
I can have my phone in the dash mount.
