Here is the situation. I have a Jeep Gladiator Sport S Max Tow. It came with the alloy wheels and Dueler A/T tires. I traded these wheels and tires with forum member @Jake in early December for his OEM steel wheels and H/T tires. Things have worked well with those. I have also bought another set of OEM wheels with sensors taken off another Gladiator and put M/T tires on them. Everything has been working well. At the end of December, I got the opportunity to buy a takeoff OEM set of wheels and A/T tires from forum member @Jat9058 . I swapped out the wheels with H/T tires on my Gladiator for the wheels with A/T tires the TPMS stopped working shortly after; first the passenger front and driver rear were not reading, then they all went out. To confirm: at this point I had put 4 sets of wheels with TPMS sensors and 4 sets of tires, all from a Jeep Gladiator Sport, all except the very first ones were ones from other Jeeps. Now, I have 3 sets of OEM wheels and OEM TMPS sensors on my Gladiator, none those sets are the wheels and sensors that came with my vehicle, but two have worked for literally thousands of miles. My current set, the ones with the A/T stopped working. This is not going to be covered under warranty according to the dealer and @JeepCares because the serial numbers on the sensors won't match the VIN number of my vehicle in FCA's records.
I have 2 other sets, currently: the M/Ts on Jake's steel wheels and the H/Ts on alloy wheels. I could just use the sensors from my M/T tires since those would get underinflated for off roading anyway and set of the alarms. But, I would hate to go through the hassle of dismounting the M/T or H/T tires on the wheels that were on my Jeep prior to these A/T tires/wheels and re-install them in the A/T tires (which I find I prefer and am keeping the H/T as a spare set). The cost of going to a shop to do this would negate much of the savings I have had in all my wheeling and dealing (hah!)
Anyone able to offer some advice? Jeep dealer can't figure out what's wrong with them just by trying to reprogram/update the system. I haven't tried swapping out the H/T or M/T wheels yet, I'll update this thread once I do. Should be able to do it this weekend
