I seriously believe the TSB isn't connected to VIN so they look at that chart to determine what to order (the chart right in the TSB) and end up on the wrong line.
If this was connected to VIN (gee, didn't someone say that is one of the things going to happen?) then there'd be no mistake. But at this point, or up TO this point, it's been customer comes in, complains, the TSB shows a chart of what parts are needed, they look at that and order - the wrong parts.
Could it be you've hit on one reason for the changes happening and that they may be trying to connect this to VIN now to aleviate some of what you mention?
I definitely agree with that assessment ... Im sure they have identified a problem and tying it to a VIN increases accuracy and allows for verification ...

A great step to helping the situation for sure ... Im just surprised that a company as experienced with such things wouldn't have done this as a matter of course ...

Maybe they need to hire a new consultant......

I agree, they should have tied this to VIN - plug in their dongle, read the vin, select the TSB, let it order the parts.

My wife had a chart of embroidery thread and out of the blue, she asked "what does this BO stand for or mean"? I looked at the chart - bet it means "Back order".
Decades ago, BO used to be a character in the Dick Tracey comic strip, according to my father.

My dealer after I had mine upgraded told me that they still can order one every two week. My gladiator rubicon drives so much better I definitely recommend the TSB repair.

Took the Gladiator in Monday was told all orders for the TSB were on hold until later this year. Received a call this afternoon (3 days later)that my steering box was in and was scheduled to be installed Tuesday. Guess the all orders cancelled has been cancelled? Go figure

You really haven't followed this issue very long, have you?
I think you are dreaming of an ideal world with ideal dealers and shops.

No dealer is going to tow it and then give you as loaner for months on end. Tow it based on what? A complaint? Right.
Some have had trouble getting a dealer to even admit there's a problem at all.
Further - the danger isn't always easy to feel or see unless you drive the thing under all sorts of conditions, say, on I80 between two semis, or on days like today where the wind is 15-20 with gusts up in the 30-35 range. You are between trucks, one moves over and suddenly you catch that wind and struggle to keep from hitting the truck on the other side of you.
It's not uncommon on the other hand, if you have the dealer "check it out" on a calm day - they'll say it's fine. They don't test drive out of their own little safe world. They don't go out of town, they don't hit 70 mph, nor do they drive in heavy traffic.
Again, obviously, yours wasn't as bad as some. It can't have been as you said yours was "a little annoying". Some of these are beyond annoying and you didn't go through some of the driving conditions others have.
Some people can't let their primary vehicle out of hand for the weeks or months it takes to get parts, and not all dealers always have "loaners" - it's "if available".
You might want to go back into last summer's posts and read and check some of the scary videos out there. Dealers were telling people with 2" of play "there's nothing wrong" - because for them there was no fix available, Jeep said nothing about it, there were no better parts anywhere, and no real solution.
The dealership that had mine didn't drive it at all as I noted the mileage when I dropped it of. They pretty much waited a day and played around with it a little bit, did the oil change and tire rotation then called me and said nothing is wrong come get your truck. The mileage readout hadn't even changed one mile from when I dropped it off.

Where are the new steering boxes being manufactured? US?... China? ... Mexico? ... I wouldn't blame the dealers in this at all ... I'm sure their vendor producing the boxes is at capacity and they are bringing them in as fast as they can. Yes, it sucks to have to wait, but persistent bitching on here isn't going to shorten the lead times. We ALL knew as soon as this TSB was released that this would be an issue as the many flocked to their dealers to have their boxes replaced over burdening the supply chain. We all need to take a breath ... and get on the list. First it was the great TP shortage of 2020, now this ....
You gotta be able to get on the list and some can't cause some dealerships near them won't even bother with it. I am on my second dealership this one is further away and they won't even return my call. I am ok driving my JT but I still don't like all the wander on the highway at upper speeds and the constant corrections that have to be made to stay on the straight. Scares the crap out of you on Houston highways with cars and trucks all around along with the ever present cement walls just feet away.

I PMed them in October.
Went in for the Diag on October 19th.
Repair will be completed on November 30.
They acted as a liaison for the dealer.
They made the phone calls and updated me.
They escalated my issue.
Totally profession experience and I'm like most for you...my time is valuable.
They saved me lots of time.

I messed up the name - B.O. Plenty......
(either I remembered it wrong, or my father did)
B.O. Plenty was a bachelor farmer living in a mess of a house, wearing torn clothes bought "on account", who hadn't left his farm for fifty years. "B.O." constantly chews tobacco and is noted for having a rather "musky" scent that follows him around.

Been dealing with them they are the one's who told me to take it to Mack Haik Dealership but Mack Haik won't even respond back to me about it. I will probably have to follow up with them and have them order it and perhaps advise the dealership they will need to make the repairs.

My dealer is Granger Dodge and Jeep they did a great job on mine. It drives great. There was another person just dropping his off for the TSB steering gearbox also. The service woman name Vicky said they can get one every two weeks

Let @JeepCares know that this dealership is dropping the ball.
