What I noticed is that all four doors of the Gladiator were still able to be opened and closed after the accident. That tells me that the truck's frame is very sturdy. Makes me feel a little bit better about overall safety.

Drunk and stupid has never impressed me.
did you even bother to watch the embedded video in the news story? They said there are frequent accidents there because of the road design, 2 years ago a tractor trailer smashed through the concrete barrier that stopped the Jeep and plummeted to the interstate below.

True, but...
The most recent accident happened around 2:30 a.m. this past Saturday, when a Jeep hit the concrete wall at the end of the ramp and burst into flames.

The driver was suspected of driving under the influence, according to the North Richland Hills Police Department.

I’m a DUI attorney. Trust me, it doesn’t take much to be “suspected” of DUI after a crash. No one I know has ever passed a field sobriety test immediately after facef___ing an airbag.
Good point. Come to think of it, you often see "driver was suspected of driving under the influence" in the news, but I don't ever recall seeing a follow up article saying "actually, he wasn't drunk; the weather way sh*t/a baby crawled in front of his vehicle/his brakes failed/or whatnot". But who expects the media to be unbiased these days?
