Thanks for the photos and video. Not sure why I have more space than the rest of you. An install guy from AVO is supposed to call to tell me how they do the shims. They don't follow the AC instructions.

Here is the space I have available without it being bolted down.

@HereWeGo I looked for your followup on this but maybe I missed it. Can you please share what AVO told you about how to do the shims differently than what is in the AC instructions?

The instructions say to use a stack of shims that is 1.5mm thicker than the space between mount halves to ensure the load of the canopy is directed into the load bearing rails, as opposed to lying
directly on the bed walls. AVO said to use two or three less shims than what it would take to fill the space, so you're compressing the gasket. The fit should result in the two halves of the mount (and shims) to be tight, supporting the canopy, and the gasket compressed, but not totally crushed. I wound up with three in the front an two in the back. I filled the two gaps at the front with RTV. No leaks after a year.

Another good tip that is not mentioned anywhere... I added lock washers to every bolt on the mounts. Without lock washers, it's easy to over tighten. I wound up stripping threads on three bolts and had to break them off. Add lock washers and you can feel when it gets snug.

Anyone attaching stuff like rotopax to exterior of the side doors? If so how and are the struts strong enough to support the weight while opened?

Great, thanks for your reply. I just installed a contour yesterday but will go back and readjust. I was actually thinking that the gasket should be compressed more.

Mounted my max trax’s to the ceiling of the canopy tonight. Used max trax’s mounting pins and boomerang mount.

@Jglad15 Really like how you mounted these. Do you have any pictures of just the boomerang mounts themselves on the ceiling rails? They look very low profile. Trying to decide if I've got enough room to do this same setup with everything else I've got installed on the ceiling.

If I get time today I’ll pull them down and take a pic of it for you! If not today I’ll do it by the end of the weekend!

Hello all!

I have the Alu-Cab Contour Canopy on my stock Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 22'. Id like to mount a ROAM Vagabond XL on top of it. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions?

Going with the ROAM Vagabond XL as I have multiple kiddos & the Vagabond has an enclosed annex for additional sleeping/space.

Prior to this setup I had a Rebel off-road 1/2 rack with a ROAM Vagabond RTT (not the XL).

Do any of y'all remove your topper and store it when not needed? What do you use to store it on? I would like to be able to pop it on and off as needed but am worried about damaging the seals while stored.

Can someone please tell me the clearance from the truck bed up to the lowest portion of the rear hatch frame? I would like to know the height of the tallest object that I can slide into the truck bed without hitting the upper portion of the cover frame or hatch. Thank you.

I measured 35-3/4" as the shortest dimension from the top of the hump on the bed floor as pictured. If you need anything else let me know.
