I read an industry article/report/something recently that talked about the metallurgy involved in a JL/JT, and I don't think you'll find that much of the structure will have survived. Assuming the frame aft of the C-pillar isn't folded (and it looks to be), the roll cage and about a foot fore and aft of the b-pillar have for sure been compromised by heat. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. And I'm completely off my rocker. So, yes. You are crazy.
I was thinking the same thing about the metallurgy. The body would be wavy as heck, but maybe even brittle. The windshield frame is wavy where the visors were. I’m surprised that even the bed is cooked. That Jeep burned for a long time before the fire went out.

The frame might be usable and maybe the axles if one wanted to make a Frankenjeep out of those parts.

Certifiably batsh!t, because you asked. But it’s your money, so you do you. The previously mentioned metallurgical concerns are foremost issues to me. Good luck.

Not crazy. Build it like you would an off-road buggy. Carbed hemi, Dana 60s, half doors, sheet metal or plastic dash. Hell, you'll be done before some people decide which gears to go with.

The frame might be usable...
Look at the angle of the bed relative to the body. It didn't melt down like that, the truck was rear ended, and that's part of the energy absorption strategy. The frame is not salvageable. The only MAYBE usable part(s) MIGHT be the axles, and not even 100% of those. Like you said, that cooked a long time, the little button popped out, and it just kept going. It's the camping equivalent of the hotdog that fell off the stick and into the fire.

first, a lil' background. I have owned 2 YJ's, a scrambler, and have rebuilt dozens of cars from insurance auctions. this is my latest conquest that I have a taste for, noting that there are no emissions restrictions or safety restrictions where I live. thoughts and input are welcome...

A beach b*tch?

I know that heat softens the metal so it's not stiff enough to take simple hits. MK1 VWs had that problem with the front horns. A slight bump would bend them.

If you got the time and deep pockets, go for it.

Tempered steel frames love a little more heat to harden them right?
That is a basket case from the pic. I may be wrong, I was once before.??

Good observation. I was wondering about the bed and what caused that angle. I imagine the fuel tank ruptured and fed the flames a long time.

I was trying to think of an analogy and my thought was beer cans in a campfire, but theres something more amusing about this:

Like you said, that cooked a long time, the little button popped out, and it just kept going. It's the camping equivalent of the hotdog that fell off the stick and into the fire.

Exactly. The frame isn’t even good. The frame is trashed. The metal is going the be super brittle. There’s nothing worth saving. Sad that she couldn’t live on in another form.

Is that seriously listed for sale?

You would have been better off starting with a single lug nut and building up from there ...
That’s funny, but true.

My glass is half full though, you could probably salvage those tow hooks!
