More info: I found this when perusing the 80/20 site. It's an aluminum composite sheet that can be used as a closeout panel. I am wondering if this is the same stuff that GFC uses for the floors of their camper. https://8020.net/65-2637.html

Count me in as definitely interested.

As some others have mentioned, would need some brackets to lift over the Revolver X4. Other companies make them, imagine it would be cross compatible with your design if you didn't want to make them.

How is that panel usable for these applications when the webpage says this:

This panel is stable up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit and is weather resistant, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.

I wouldn't expect that panel to be load bearing since it's supported by the aluminum frame but to be used as a close out.

I would definitely be interested in an aluminum design to go along with my aluminum bumper and mopar soft tonneau cover.

After going back and forth here is the design for the Molle panel:

2” x .5” and 3” x .5” molle slots offset and secured to each rail. This is full size panel and should be easy to laser cut.

I'd recommend a return flange on the top/btm edge to add rigidity. I also prefer the side panels to have a bit of opening along the top/btm so you can reach into the bedside to grab items.

As I get further along in parallel for a DIY solution, I'm finding that cost of the connectors might make it infeasible. The variable angle connectors in pink below are ~$16 each and I'll need 12 of them...

8020 doesn't have 165deg plate connectors that would be much cheaper. I made some "L" brackets at the correct angle that I need, and they'd still be $22/part. Haven't checked with a local water jetter yet.

Might have to sit back and let bullitt work :)

Yeah I looked at that too. It’s cheaper to make the parts then to buy them sometimes. Waterjet should be really cheap especially if you supply the material. I am doing my plate at .125” thickness. More than enough to hold the loads.

Not having access to a waterjet myself...back to the pivots. Can't get several plates water jettet for <$18/part. That brings the current BOM to ~$555 - which isn't bad considering the cost of most bed racks I'm seeing.

The biggest problem that I see is the 'variable angle' connectors do not offer any rigidity. You will be completely reliant on the gussets.
That being said, square corner brackets are a lot cheaper than those angle connectors.
