I need to wrap my head around best method here. What does the positive to the aux even run to? Trying to figure out why it would be ok just pulling a fuse and a negative terminal and everything work fine.

I also have the crappier small battery and intend on replacing the main with a higher capacity. Anyone suggest a particular battery for this as i intend on adding a winch eventually. I hear the h7 agm odyssey and some say the yellow tops. Not sure i can get the odyssey locally though which i really want to do.
The two batteries are paralleled together. Disconnecting the negative cable to the Aux Battery just removes it from the mix. Removing the F42 fuse disables the relay and forces the Aux Battery startup test to be done on the Main Battery. A 94R (H7) Battery is the largest that the battery tray will accept. You can get a Yellow Top or Odyssey, but you are just paying extra money. Get one from Walmart and just plan to replace it within three years.
