So yes another Aux battery bypass: BUT odd reaction.

So Basics:
1: I have a tazer and did the bypass feature works.
A: auto start/stop light stays on ✅
B: auto start/stop feature does not function ✅

2: I have disconnected the ground wire from the Aux Battery and taped and secured terminal end ✅

3: I have disconnected the Aux Battery ground wire from the main terminal taped and secured the wiring end ✅

4: I have pulled the fuse ( F42 ) and removed ✅

- No issues for about a month ✅

NOW the kicker -

I was sitting at a redlight and the auto start/stop feature worked: Off/Then On like normal. :whatsgoingon::whatsgoingon::whatsgoingon:

So that is where I second guess myself and verified everything again, all still the same.

So maybe the button auto start/stop was depressed?

I then verified again an pressed the button, Tazer keeps button disabled. FIXED--- well until 3 weeks later.:mad:

I START getting randomly the "Avenger logo" The auto start/stop error appearing!!

The light stays on until I restart the Jeep, and "maybe comes back on every other week or every few days randomly

Has anyone had this happen, and how do I solve this permanently?

Thank you!

This is not unheard of .. The Main Battery takes over some voltage supply functions will operate and usually intermittently. Even had fuse 42 pulled. I experienced years ago and spoke with the fully certified, factory trained FCA Jeep tech for all warranty levels and he informed me on this happening. SO, I reconnected everything and now just push the button every start; no problem.

Well, I pulled my aux battery completely, taped off the ends in the 'box.' Now I don't touch the 'start/stop' button ever. It works all the time. When I first pulled the Aux, I did get some odd dash messages about battery but they quit and now all is well.

I have deleted my ESS battery as many have and the fuse. But once in a great while the ESS light will do the ESS thing again even though my Tazer has it off. Like the Tazer just forgot the setting. My AUX lights also loose the setting now and then, no big deal. My Odyssey battery is not the problem.

I went with the Genesis dual battery system and the tazer in 2022 when it was brand new and never looked back. Genesis came out with a new improved version and I upgraded to that. My auto/stop has been asleep for 4 years.

Do you have a link for the Tazer?

This very quirk with the stop/start happened to me this week. Same thing. Tazer, Aux delete. Except mine was after disconnecting the negative battery terminal because I was doing other work (having nothing to do with anything in this thread). I had turned on the heated driver's seat and at first thought I must have hit the stop/start. Which does work without the aux battery. No, not that lucky. But it was easy enough. I simply went through the double reboot procedure and it seems to have cleared uo.

#1 Make sure to get the SGW extension cable. Trust me.
IMO, it seems even more necessary 2024 and later. My 20 and 22 were not horrible - my 2025 is nearly impossible to get to.

ESS is always there, ALWAYS, no matter what you do.
All TAZER does is remember the switch setting for next time.
Even with the button pressed by you or your TAZER, ESS is still there and running sensing all of the things it always senses. So if there is any of the 36+ issues ESS tracks during Jeep operation, it can trigger an ESS error.

Oh, and saying "my special battery is not the problem" - LOL, unless you have fully charged it and then load tested it, you are only guessing and hoping. Yes, a fancy Odyssey or Optima or solid gold one of a kind best in the world battery can have issues, new or old.
Just worked with a guy on an AMC page that swore it HAD to be something else because his battery was NEW - so it could not be that. Well, guess what it was..............

If something loses a setting, it's got an issue somewhere. "shit happens" but........ there's always a reason. The thing is, is it important enough to bother going down a rabbit hole to find that reason.
