If you want to delete the aux battery, these are the unwritten rules:

1> Know what the F you are doing. Have a Jeep tech, or be a Jeep tech. Or even better know or be a Jeep dealership owner. One who is there for you like a best friend. His employees will get you straightened out IF IT IS LEGAL.

OR...

2> Ask for help online, which is a gamble to your warranty and NOBODY online will back you up and give you money to fix it when it when it all goes to sh1#. Trust the online guys who say it is easy and do this or that and all is good. If it works.

OR...

3> Know and be very very close to a genius who has built an entire electric vehicle company from scratch, and has built rockets that fly into space to rescue stranded astronauts... And lands rocket thruster cores by landing them straight up... like standing up a pencil... which NASA said "Can't be done". AND has built an entire satellite system for internet for the world. Not to mention classified stuff. Elon can do it for you.

OR...

4> Just spend the $150 on an aux battery and don't do the delete.

I did option #4. Enough said.

Be well. Jeep on.

It's legal - just not by a Jeep tech. Just like the TPMS system, no dealership can disable or cause to be disabled the TPSM system.

The BASIC delete is pretty simple - it's the complete delete pulling wires/cables, PCR and so on that gets complex. The BASIC delete is to simply pull a fuse, disconnect the auxiliary battery ground cable and insulate it from everything and leave the battery in place.
(still, there are some who could mess even that up, I'm sure)
The secret is understanding that as long as the aux battery ground cable is connected to the main battery ground cable, the whole truck is "hot" and letting things touch ground in the process can blow a high current fuse array costing well over a hundred bucks.

I leave mine alone - it works just fine, I monitor systems and keep batteries charged and see no reason to tear it apart. I appreciate the extra battery capacity that second battery can add as well.

But then I've designed automotive wiring systems, designed and built electronic voltage regulator circuits for classic cars and have done that sort of thing for over 50 years and feel totally comfortable doing any of it.

Some of what I see out there is rather scary - even from shops............

That should be the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor), you’ll want to be keeping that. As far as keeping both posts, you could disconnect the negatives and then cut the Aux battery wire off. Then tape or heat shrink the ends so they cannot come in contact with anything.
You can cut off the lug but what if you need to go back?

OP might wanna try this...

As per many people‘s advice on the forum and on YouTube, I decided to add a battery tender. I went with the Noco genius 5, which I installed under the hood and the Noco power-port inlet socket, which I installed on the aluminum inner fender liner.
I had the batteries replaced twice while still under warranty. The warranted batteries, lasted just over one year this time, before it would no longer remote start. That probably comes from me not always driving long enough distances, to fully recharge the batteries.
I plugged it in daily, throughout the winter. It sucked, having to install said parts and mount an electrical box, on the outside wall of my carport, in the middle of winter, but it wasn’t that difficult, because of the box on the inside of the garage, right near where I needed the outdoor box.
I understand some people don’t have the luxury of being able to plug-in to the Noco genius and such like I do. But this is what worked for me and according to others on the forum, it worked for them as well.
The parts, including the Noco genius, the power port plug, electrical cord with on off switch, weatherproof electrical box and miscellaneous wiring, cost a little over $100. Cheaper than having to buy 2 batteries for sure. Not to mention the possibility of getting stranded somewhere, like I did thanksgiving weekend, 2023.
I’m sure at some point, I will have to replace both batteries but for now, I thank those on the Forum, who had this advice to give.

I did this quick bypass in about 5 min with no ill effects on the truck. Mine is a 2022, the auto start stop was not working, but I was not getting an error message, just that auto start stop was unavailable. I figured the aux battery was on its way out and I didn't want to mess with it. I pulled fuse 41, I undid the two ground wires, moved the bigger wire directly to the battery stud, taped up the the small wire end with large flange with built in stud for the larger wire and tucked it away. Done. Its been that way for a couple of months with no issues and no auto start stop.

Could be any of a whole list of other reasons.
Normally, if it's a battery issue, you get a "battery charging" message along with the unavailable. Or it could bd that......... one just shouldn't assume.
Hope you haven't masked a larger issue.

Truck was owned by an individual that did not drive it much, it had less the 10000 miles on it in three years. I was going to do the bypass anyway. I doubt I am masking any issues, just did away with future heartache and an annoying feature.

Uh oh. No testing? Still not available? You might be on borrowed time…

As soon as my time is up, I will let everyone know. But for now, I will enjoy sitting a light with my engine running, destroying the environment, but saving my starter and engine wear.

Don't delete your auxiliary battery! If you do than the probability of it potentially running down your main battery in the future is nil. You also won't be able to save all that gas reliably via ESS without it.

Last but not least. You can spend more time and money servicing and troubleshooting a 2 battery system vs. just running your main battery. Servicing only one main battery located conveniently near the top of the engine bay is boring.
I kept rereading your post trying to figure it out until I realized it was humor. And you are correct, it’s been really boring since I deleted the aux POS battery.

One thing you were wrong about though, my ESS still works just using one battery. I keep it turned off much of the time, but use it occasionally when in traffic or a lot of lights. I connected its positive terminal to the main battery and put in the largest capacity main I could get.

I do miss the joy of accessing that aux battery though.
