Anybody else using a wireless portable compressor?

I always tell myself I'll get around to doing onboard air. The next tire size up maybe or next time im adding other accessories. It has yet to happen ?. Now i wheel 2-3 day stints, 2-3 time a month all year. I got a m18 milwaukee inflator tool back when i had no idea what i was doing. Shockingly this thing has never failed, always works and always get bothered to borrow it by buddies airing up cus im the first done. It does 33s from 12 to 37psi in 8 min all 4. does all my 37s 10 to 27psi in 14 min. With my one 8ah battery it'll do 4 whole rigs and only use 3 bars out of 4. I'm to the point that i'll get onboard air just for cool points but still run this little bastard. It even got my buddy's 34in offroad camper tires from 22 to 65 psi in under 30 min.

Got me thinking, and did a quick search. Got now a Ridgid inlfator on my to buy list. They have a $100 package with battery and inflator, you buy that your battery is covered if you register for the life time service agreement. I have tons of Ridgid batteries so that is a win for me.

lemme know how the Rigid handles. Haven't seen anyone run it but if it works its a killer deal. add to my list of things to recommend to newbies

Nice. Anyone use the Ryobi one? I have a ton of Ryobi batteries from other tools, so I was thinking of trying out the Ryobi inflator, buying one of the "tool only" deals. Tire inflation is about the only use I have, and even then maybe twice a year. Onboard air is a hefty price for my use case.

I have a Ryobi handheld one and a larger one, they both work great. I have a ton of batteries as that is all I use.

Nice thing for the Ridgid and likely others is they are low wattage chargers. I buy that kit and keep the charger, battery and inflator in the jeep under the back seat and worst case I can charge the battery off the jeep.

Ooo good point. Never thought of that. How big is the battery you're using and does it make it through all 4 tires? Could have one on the charger while the other battery is inflating tires.

I use some Ryobi ones. They do fine, but I think one finally gave up the ghost - last time I tried it it was like -10 degrees out and it stays in my wife’s car. Not sure if that low of temp was the issue or not but I only paid $35 for it.
Really makes it hard to justify on-board air except for cool factor.

Will buy it next month. Have to space out all my truck purchases. BUT all 18v chargers charge their batteries, just some do it faster than others. Will probably pick one up in March. Can post after that.

I have the ridgid one. I carry it, and the 18v cordless impact wrench when I go to the mountains. If I ever have to change a tire or something the impact is great

with the inflator, I use it at home to air up tires more than dragging the compressor hose out anymore. Set the pressure, put it on auto, and let it run.

I have a little Ryobi one but it doesn't have the guts to blow up a pool float let alone a 33 tyre lol.
I have been looking to upgrade to this Ryobi through

But not sure how it will go with larger tyres - Any advice from someone who has it welcome

I purchased the Ridgid portable inflator and 8 amp hour battery about 8 months ago and have used several times to air up. Both came with life time warranties. Beware that this little air compressor has a 5 minute duty cycle and 5 minute cool down. Living in AZ it gets hot and used my AC to cool the compressor. Worth every damn penny! I also have a Ridgid impact tool and 22mm deep impact socket for tire change if needed. All this fits under the backseat driver’s side.

thats awesome. great performance for the cost. I got a similiar setup. i got a 200 piece socket and wrench set in a tool rollup, Milwaukee Compact 1/2in drive impact, 2x 5ah battery, the M18 compressor w/8ah and a milwaukee charger. not everything i have under the seat but super stoked it fits so compact under. Even with full camp gear i usually have the rear seat row completely empty. Which is great cus you never know when you made need to give a buddy a ride home and tow his rig.

oh boy...i've been looking for an inflation solution. I too have been a home owner hooked on the Ryobi tools but really like that Milwaukee form factor, which would mean new battery...new charger...plus both on board. ugh...decisions decisions....

u can get milwaukee batteries on amazon that don't say Milwaukee and they are much cheaper. My buddy did this and we split one to compare to my big brand label one. Exact same battery. different sticker. Milwaukee charged me 110 bucks extra for a sticker. Thats the tool industry for ya. ?‍
