I just realized something. I need to teach the wife how to drive a manual. I've already dug myself into a hole with all the sexual jokes so now I guess I better think about how to teach her for real. Anyone tried this successfully?

My wife learned on her dad’s 1970 big block Challenger R/T convertible...

But prior to her, I taught several girls to drive manual in my old Honda. I think the Gladiator will be real easy to learn in, as the clutch and stick are really smooth. Best advise I can give is to find a big empty parking lot with a slope to it. Start practicing down hill, eventually work towards up hill, but don’t talk about the change in difficulty...most people psych themselves out on hills, when they really shouldn’t. Back at Purdue, I could have someone that had never seen a manual completely comfortable with driving around the city in about 20 minutes.

Though I am yet to take delivery of my truck yet and haven't test driven one yet. But I do know that new manuals are much easier to drive that the old. New vehicles have enough computers in them they aid the driver some and will compensate to some extent to prevent stalling. Take her out to a empty parking lot and have her take a few attempts until she feels comfortable driving... It takes practice and driver seat time to get good.

Good luck

I taught my now fiancé to drive a manual transmission. Made her spend 20 minutes or so in a flat wide open lot starting by just easing the clutch no gas pedal and then idling, repeat, Then the other end of the Lot had a very small incline made her work the brake and clutch with no gas till she could get it going forward without using the gas at all. The rest was easy.

So she still doesn’t like to drive a standard everyday but is proficient enough I don’t mind if she drives my vehicles to for whatever reason. Even let her off-road it when she wants now. She drove a pretty technical rock garden in my Toyota and didn’t have any real issues, although a lot of credit is due to a 6to1 low range, and a lot of extra steel.

I may not want her to drive my gladiator when it finally arrives. but that has less with my faith in her ability and more with the it’s my toy factor.

Dude buy a cheap piece of shit for a few hundred bucks. Take her to a parking lot and she will have it down within an hour

For anyone else who recently went KZ, this is what I heard from my dealer about expectations for delivery time to Maine.

As far as arrival date, I will know better once it gets on the train. I am thinking within a couple of weeks.

I just drove a Gladiator with a manual transmission, totally loved it. Drove a tad around town then hit the interstate to test it at highway speed. Was super impressed. Hitting 6th gear felt very comfortable to do. Sitting in a Wrangler with a manual it felt clunky, not rolling down the road mind you. But not so in reality, rolling down the road. Was also wondering if it would feel a tad weird since the shifter is a bit to the right side of the center. Felt great, was easy to reach and to shift and no worries about stalling while starting. My mind is made up. Automatic is out of the question now.

For now it’s just a question of what color I will order. Will get the black hard top. Have seen silver, like it. Need to see a Gladiator in Gobi with a black roof and also need to see a Gladiator in Sting Grey with a black roof before I decide which of these 3 colors I will pick.

And best of all I went to the parts department to see if they could order a hard trifold tonneau cover and surprise surprise they actually have one in stock. Will go ahead and pick up that tonneau cover on Monday once they confirm that it can be installed without the trail rail system. They are having to dig out the installation instructions from the box since they could not find that in the Jeep/Mopar internal dealership sites.

Will also order a Bestop Sunrider while the truck is on order. Also plan to pick up some step bars once I can decide which ones I like the most. Will have lots of time to get these things together since it can take many moons to get a truck ordered, built and delivered as you all know.

Also plan to put in my own aftermarket stereo system with navigation. Will take care of that part once I have the truck in. Have an Alpine system that I lean to.

Was a fun day today.
Gobi was my first choice but couldn’t wait that long, ordered a white Rubi 4/22 just told D1 last Wed.

Ok, here’s something positive. Got my window sticker today. It apparently shipped yesterday and is on a train from Toledo to Winston-Salem, NC. Is supposed to arrive there on 7/27 and then will wait for a truck to make the last leg of the journey to Goldsboro, NC which is only an additional 3 hours away. I’m expecting another 3 weeks and then Glory Day! Getting the window sticker today made it seem very real, and no longer an abstract thing. It will probably end up being around 13 weeks total for me.

Ordered 5/13
Built 7/13
Shipped 7/19

Billet Silver Rubicon M/T
Soft top
Forward camera
Spray in bed liner
Tonneau cover
LED
Alpine
Bluetooth speaker
Does the sticker come directly from Jeep?

@cgflyer I am in zero rush hour do this and gotta be happy with the color for at least 4 to 5 years. So I wait to see just the 2 remaining color choices. Like silver, seen it. But gotta hang until I see Gobi and Sting Grey in the flesh. Trust you will like your ride in your color choice.
