I am leaning on getting one over a toneau cover but would like to see detailed pics before making a decision.

I'm about to place my order for one in the black twill material so that it matches my factory premium soft top.

In researching this I've found a few complaints about the side panels (or maybe the corners?) coming unseated at highway speeds, which makes me consider that there could be a design flaw. What I haven't seen though from any of these claims is which material their tops are. If this is a design flaw, is it an issue with only the black diamond material, only the black twill material, or both? It could also be installation error. I've seen nobody mention any troubleshooting efforts to resolve the problem.

Someone in a Facebook group posted these pics for me. It's the black twill material. He mentioned the only complaint he has is the rear crossbar can be annoying to deal with if you're in a hurry, which is fine by me. Other than that, he's had no issues.

I've reached out to Bestop to see if they offer a forum discount like most other vendors/sponsors here, but so far no response. They haven't logged onto the forum since Dec 22 though.

A couple more from a member here in the forum. I went ahead and placed an order for one in twill, but it's looking like it'll be a few months before I have it.

I'm looking at doing the same thing and also read about the back corners coming loose. I'd really like to know what peoples thoughts are on the Black Diamond vs Twill materials on this product.

The black diamond actually matches the color of the unpainted hardtop better than the twill. But...I'm more concerned about durability and flexibility in the cold (Minnesotan here).

I feel like Twill would stand up better to the subzero temps, but I haven't been able to find any real world experiences with the twill material yet.

I've talked to a couple of owners about their twill soft caps and so far I've collected zero complaints. I've asked specifically about corners and side channels coming unseated and in my very in-depth investigation (?) it's not a problem with the twill material.

I ordered mine a few days ago from Bestop and then the next day I found a coupon for 15% off any order at Northridge so I ordered it and then canceled my Bestop order. I saved a couple hundred bucks.

Northridge's listing says the average shipping time is 30 days, but it also ships directly from Bestop. I know customers with orders directly from Bestop are waiting months, so unless Northridge orders get priority over direct customers, I'm not holding my breath on having my own to give my thoughts any time soon.

I'm in Oklahoma so I've never asked about the brutal winters you see, but I will say that my old JKU had the standard top (which is the black diamond material) and I never had any issues with interior warmth, with snow or ice on top, etc. Nothing ever came unseated, separated, or unstitched.

Great info - Thanks!

I have a handful of Quadratec giftcards from Christmas that I was hoping to put towards one of these, but unfortunately, Quadratec doesn't carry the Twill version (yet?). They tell me it's exclusive to Bestop (which is obviously incorrect as I found it on Northridge as well). Wasn't worth arguing with them over email... I figured I'd give it a little time and see if they start carrying the Twill.

But then, over the weekend, I got this announcement. Around February 2022 we should have another option for a soft topper - Agri-Cover (who makes Access Tonneau covers) is releasing a soft, collapsible topper for the JT. Looks like a "black diamond" type material, but I think I'm going to wait and see if there are any different features on that product before clicking an order button.

I wouldn't hold our breath on using those Quadratec gift cards towards any of these. I've found that Quadratec has been out of stock on large items like this and buying from the manufacturer direct will generally lead to quicker shipping.

Well in that video I can see that the topper sits closer to the cab AND has clear side windows instead of solid. That is a plus! I look fwd to seeing this up close!

My non-twill supertop should be coming in any day now, but I’m pretty nervous seeing all the loose fitting tops on here. That agri-cover topper looks pretty interesting.
I only went with the Bestop over the softopper for that removable tailgate crossbar. If this one fits closer to the cab and has a compris le crossmember, I’m sold.

New Promo video of that Outlander top! I gotta say I like the lines of it much better than the Bestop. Will be interesting to see how it seals on the tailgate and the rest of the features!

It looks really good. I can go either way on the side windows. If they come out with a twill-matched material then I'll definitely consider it against my incoming Bestop. About the only complaint I have about the Bestop (without actually owning one yet) is the angled gap between the rear window of the cab and the bulkhead window of the Bestop.

This one looks like it's angled towards the cab to even out that gap, which is enough to catch my attention.

I agree with Shirtless, fit is important to me and that ACI has my attention.

Bestop now says mid February for the topper I ordered in early September, but this is the third time they’ve pushed that date back so who knows.

That's not very comforting for someone like me that just ordered one on Monday.

I ordered through Northridge so unless Bestop gives major retailers priority, it looks like it'll be summer time at this rate before mine arrives.

I chose bestop over softopper because I didn't like the idea of using velcro on the tailgate and front. Also, from pictures, it looked like the bows extended down into the inside of the bed. I use that side area to stuff long soft items like rifle cases and coats and didn't want to lose that space. I've made several highway trips in high winds and haven't had any issues with anything coming loose. The rear crossbar is a pain to use though. I wish it could have been made to roll in to corner brackets like the standard jeep soft tops. This one should just pop into the corners, but it never seems to and I have to wiggle it around and put one side in at a time. Every time I need something in the back, I have to pull the back window out of its track. I leave the cross bar in unless I'm loading/unloading.

I ordered mine in early Aug from a popular vendor. By late September, the estimated ship date had been pushed back 3 times. I cancelled, ordered from Northridge, and they shipped within the next couple of days. I will post a couple of pics if I can get them off my phone.
