So I’m in the middle of a DIY sway bar disconnect just because I’m going to put a lift kit on eventually so I will eventually get swaybar disconnects of Apex designs or something or another. But for now I’m just using clevis pins to delete the bolts and I am mildly confused because I bought grade 8 off of McMaster car and for the single Shear on the driver side. It holds just fine with washers and a retaining pin. on the double Shear side or passenger side it grenades these pins every time you take a sharp turn.

You could try a marine hardware either locally or online. Most are made from SS and just might work for your applicatio.

You can get grade 8 pins at any tractor supply or similar farm store.

Remember, the hardness of a pin needs to be matched to the use. If you install a pin that is significantly harder than the body it is inserted into, the result will be the softer body wearing more rapidly.

true indeed. perfect example is snowblower shear pins using grade 5 bolts in a pinch.
i know they sell weaker stuff that the grade 8 pins there as well. A farm supply store is still very likely to have what he needs
