I can vouch for the headliners with the sound assassin strips - made a noticeable difference. I’m definitely thinking more sound deadening is in the cards - on floors and behind subwoofer. Doing it in the doors I’m a little wary of - seems like a PITA to get into.
I'm glad we could help!

I added an Alpine Powered Sub underneath the front passenger seat. The kit also upgrades the oem tweeters at the corners of the front dash. Gives the oem system a little more balls at the low end and clearer highs.

Also planning on upgrading the speakers in the soundbar.

Sorry for digging up a old thread

It has been a while since I have been able to pay some attention to Stereo Upgrade.

I decided to mock up my Subwoofer enclosure for my Back Seat area. I mocked it up with Foam Core Board. This will fit underneath the back seat and bolt down to the factory location where the factory storage container.

That looks nice, much nicer than the box I got. Been thinking about cutting my storage bin in half. That way I could at least have half of the storage bin and the other half a sub box.

It is a JL 10W3-4. It requires .55 cubic feet of airspace inside the sealed enclosure. So, to figure out just how much air space that was required, I made a sample square box the size that JL suggests for the airspace. I then filled it with packing peanuts from the UPS Store. I then set my Subwoofer in the box along with the packing peanuts and made a piece that would separate the remainder of the box for storage. It took up a lot more space than I initially anticipate. But I now have the exact airspace designed within the box. I start my cutting of the 3/4 inch Baltic Birch Plywood and start assembling the box. I believe I will have to cut a small circular hole on the very top of the box and cover it with a larger circular plug to ensure the Subwoofer motor doesn't hit the lid and potentially hurt the subwoofer in any way.

Darkamet, if you cut the storage box in half, I am not sure you will have enough airspace for the subwoofer unless you get a lower profile subwoofer. JL does make a Lower Profile sub, but I didn't care for the sound. I wasn't willing to compromise on the sound, so I went with a conventional subwoofer. I hope this helps.

I have included some photos for reference. The plain box is just so I could measure the exact airspace required. Then there is a photo of the packing peanuts inside the box. I also have a sample wall I made to separate the airspace and the storage area. There is also a photo of the JL suggested airspace.

I hope this will help someone out in the future.
