Been considering SS3 LED "Sport" fog light kit in yellow and I see they have a backlight (accent light) option.
Does anyone have that and exactly what is the difference visually with that option?
Since I have the steel bumper, that and the backlight add something like 90 bucks to the cost.
Where I live, hills, roads, deer that can look you in the eye......... and the onset of badder weather, my wife said "order them" when i said I was looking for an upgrade.
But unsure about the accent or backlight option.
Thoughts?
Opinions?
Anyone have those?
How are they wired in
and
how much different do they look?

I just saw the ss5 with different color led backlights. I currently have the ss3 max yellow fogs and have had them in my stock Mojave bumper and now in a Spartacus stubby. Had a few problems with them staying on during stop/start cycles, but otherwise they are much brighter than my stock headlights.

Don't have the backlit ones. But I would go for the higher version. Either pro or max. Way more light output. The sport are good. Maybe mine aren't aimed just right.

I agree with above sports are good but not enough imo unless I'm aimed too low as well. I also live and drive back country with-deer-hogs-raccoons ect. I found my ss3 fogs were not enough output down range. I went baja designs on A pillar and front bumper hoop lights. Both throw out enough light to spot wild life's beady eyes far down the road. Higher up mounted lights is way more beneficial for my situation. My .02

I believe it was @DAVECS1 who said he had the sport and liked 'em, was wondering more about the backlit part - what that's all about and how it's wired or can be wired.
I currently have factory LED everything, including stock factory LED fog lights in my steel bumper on my Overland.

I recently put the yellow pros on my gladiator with the black friday sale. I skipped on the backlight option. I believe it is wired separately but on the yellow fogs the only backlight color available is amber. Kind of not worth the extra money to backlight the yellow fog lights IMO.

The new version with the backlight is more of a drl that doesn't add much use to the light besides making it look cool when the actual main beam isn't being used. You're not missing out on much. Yes it would require a separate power lead so it can function while the main beam's power is switched off.

That's what I assumed from their description but was looking to verify. They do suggest it needs to be wired to a source of your choice.
It definitely wouldn't do anything function-wise other than "make it look cool" - too bad there isn't other color options but then in that location, the yellow is fine.
Just double-checked - it adds 40 bucks to the cost (and isn't available until late January while non-accent versions are in stock)

No Backlighting on mine sorry can't help on that part. They just came out with the SS5's that seem to offer more colors. Don't know the size and if they would fit in the spot where the fogs normally go. I have the SS3 Sports and they are nice but if I had to do it again I would probably got to the Pro or Max version.

I have a set of larger no name lights with a backlight option, I got them off eBay. I wired the backlight circuit to one of my aux switches and have the main light on another. I like the look with the backlight on, I have it on all the time. They may make a smaller version that could be used in the fog light location.

The 5s don't fit in the bumper - at least their web site shows them mounted on the bumper, on the cowl or a bar, etc.

I think I'll likely skip the backlight option - I'm looking for function more than the golly-gee that's cool effect.
The SS3 sport looks like a fair improvement over the stock LED fogs. And after reading a lot of stuff from Daniel Stern over the years - selective yellow would seem my better option.

I have the Yellow sports but of course for me it was a move from the mostly useless Halogens so the amount of light they put out is so much nicer now. I'm not sure if I have them aimed correctly still tinkering with them. As I have to RR Arcus Bumper its was a little bit of a hassle to get them in (Had to get certain adapter brackets) and adjust them. I think they are supposed to bolt right up with the stock steel rubicon bumper

Yeah - that confirms their description - for an extra 50 bucks you get the brackets that allow them to mount perfectly in place of the factory fog lights in a MOPAR steel bumper. So I have to have the lights and then check the "steel bumper" box and watch the price jump from 220 to 270.
I'm not totally impressed with the factory LED fog lights. They work, they are better than none and I've absolutely had far far worse but............... my wife approved the 220 (that was before I checked the "steel bumper" check box) and I'm hoping she'll ignore the extra 50 bucks when she reviews the credit card numbers - or will have forgotten the number I told her LOL.
Shhhhhh.

Some extra feedback here, but I am thoroughly impressed by the SS3 Pros, they crush the OEM fogs performance wise. I originally had halogen, upgraded to factory LED since they came with the MOPAR steel bumper I bought, and then upgraded to the SS3 Pros, and holy smokes they are bright. I still smile every time I turn them on, they light up the ditches amazingly well. I'd say the pros are probably the most you'd want for on road driving, the Max's would be insane.
