Is that your window washer fluid freezing there?
Does not really look like it is from your wheels on that picture?

Well if that's the case, flaps won't work there without looking really stupid.
I thought it was salt spray.
The defrost vent should melt that off if it's freezing there.

Could be for sure. We notice that we get gunk in the same place when we use the rest of our warm weather washer fluid in the gunky salty winter roads here at good highway speeds.
It still looks crap with the winterized one, because it streaks all the gunk across the passenger side, but I can at least see.

It not frozen, its just dry residue from the windshield wipers during the winter and the grime from the road.

We use Sonax Extreme diluted for -30C (like -20 F i think)
You could try a coating like rain x. Should help that residue moves on rather than pool there.
Another attempt I would try is, just need to make sure that the shield goes far enough down.

It is peculiar, maybe down to the fluid? I live in Minnesota and haven't had that issue. I just run whatever cheap stuff they have out front at the gas station though.

Maybe. I was thinking I would refill with more name brand fluid since I do get a frozen haze when i wipe the windshield and its cold outside, but i also realize there is a point where no mater what you use, its going to freeze.

After I put on my windshield protection film, I put a ceramic coating onto the windshield. It helps all that stuff not stick. It should help whether you have film on your windshield or not.

I was going to say splash guards and running boards. Mine doesn't get nearly that bad even though my truck throws the road scum right back at the windshield in the past few days with slimed roads.

but i also realize there is a point where no mater what you use, its going to freeze.
Hmmm, mine doesn't and it's been pretty cold lately.

I would first get that window clean and put about 2 coats of rain-x, it really helps and is a cheap starting point... I also use the rain-x windshield washer fluid (albeit that would mainly address the front windscreen.)

Granted I've only had my Gladiator for 2500 miles, but the first real rainstorm I drove through, the rain sheeted (don't you hate getting 'sheeted' on?)across the windows and was blinding. Rain-x resolved that issue. (Your scenario with ice is different but definitely worth a try.)

From my experience formerly driving in Northeast Ohio winters for most of my life, rain-x did help prevent the grime from sticking as much, and seemed to make ice removal easier when scraping.

...or move to warmer climate, lol... Don't have to shovel heat.

...and no I don't advertise for rain-x, but it is cheap and it works. Your mileage and experience may vary, but this worked for me.

Other posts in the forum have noted problems with Rain-X windshield washer fluid. You might check those inputs first to see if there is something to that.
